"𝓗𝓾𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓻𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓼 are key to Pakistan’s development and growth, yet challenges remain: 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 affect countless lives. •𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 face discrimination, workers lack fair wages and safe conditions, and many children are deprived of education. Upholding these rights means more than social justice—it builds a stronger, more resilient society. Together, we can advocate for change, ensuring every Pakistani has access to dignity, equality, and opportunity. I'll never advocate for equality in job opportunities across gender. But I'll always emphasize on 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. This is what our religion teaches, and that's surely the correct way and the path to success. #humanrights #pakistan

"The situation for women and girls in Afghanistan is dire." "Since that time, the Taliban has systematically targeted the fundamental rights and freedoms of women and girls, via a tightly woven patchwork of decrees, policies, and practices. This litany of edicts continues to dictate attire, curtail freedom of mobility, and restrict access to education and professional opportunities – effectively erasing the voices and perspectives of women and girls from public spaces and impeding realization of their inherent human rights. Key international actors – including UN Member States, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Afghanistan, and the Chair of the Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls – have used terms such as ‘gender apartheid’ to describe the dynamic prevailing on the ground. To its core, the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan is dire." #EndGenderApartheidInAfghanistan #LetAfghanGirlsLearn #Sheneverforgetandneverforgive #Afghanwomen #StandwithAfghanWomen #Women_Peace_And_Security #WomenHealth #WomenInLeadership #WomenAndClimateCrises #GenderEquality #Justice #RoleOfLaw #Afghanistan #HumanRights #SDGs

The Taliban's rule over the past three years has indeed been devastating for Afghanistan, particularly for women and girls. The denial of education to females at all levels has created a generational gap in knowledge and skills that will have long-lasting consequences. The absence of new high school graduates, medical professionals, and other educated individuals threatens the country's future development and healthcare system. The confinement of women to their homes and the stripping away of their rights represent a severe human rights violation and a significant step backwards for gender equality. This not only affects women individually but also impacts families, communities, and the entire nation's social and economic fabric. The international community must continue to pressure the Taliban regime to restore women's rights and access to education. Supporting underground education initiatives, advocating for change, and providing humanitarian aid are crucial steps. Ultimately, sustainable progress in Afghanistan requires the full participation and empowerment of all its citizens, regardless of gender. #womensrights #genderequality #womenssecurity #democraticparticipation #genderbasedviolence #discrimination #digitalgenderdivide #education #awarenessraising #legalframeworks #politicalparticipation #representation #womenledorganizations #menandboys #internationalcooperation #collaboration #independenceofthejudiciary #ruleoflaw #judicialindependence #separationofpowers #humanrights #democracy #justice #integrity #accountability #witnessprotection #witnesssafety #justice #ruleoflaw #democracy #retaliation #intimidation #violence #safety #support #nonprofit U.S. Department of State European Commission UK Parliament United Nations

The change starts at the root of the problem. That's why education is the best weapon to address the gender gap that still exists. The fact that in 2024 education is still prohibited for women in many countries is a global social and economic setback. Investing in women's education is crucial to combat this. That's why, alongside Malala Yousafzai and her Malala Fund, I have created a fund where you can be part of this movement and invest in our future. Let's ensure that every girl knows she's not alone and that we believe in her 💜 Click on the following link to invest: https://lnkd.in/d3X4Gp3i
Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, they've issued over 80 decrees targeting women’s rights — systematic discrimination best described as gender apartheid. Yet there are no legal avenues to hold the Taliban accountable. Recognising and codifying gender apartheid is an important and effective tool to ensure justice in Afghanistan. On International Women’s Day and beyond, share this video and amplify the stories of Afghan girls to help the fight to end gender apartheid.

The recent proposal in Iraq's parliament to lower the legal age of marriage for girls to just 9 years old is alarming and raises significant human rights concerns. If passed, this legislation would not only undermine decades of progress in promoting women's rights and gender equality in Iraq but also set a dangerous precedent for other societies around the world. This bill, which allows citizens to opt between religious authorities and the civil judiciary for family affairs, risks eroding hard-won protections in matters of inheritance, divorce, and child custody. Moreover, lowering the marriage age to 9 for girls and 15 for boys could lead to an increase in child marriages, exploitation, and abuse—devastating the lives of countless young girls. The ripple effects of such a law extend beyond Iraq's borders. It could embolden other countries with similar patriarchal structures to consider regressive legal changes, threatening the global fight for gender equality. This situation calls for a unified international response to protect the rights of the most vulnerable and ensure that progress toward equality is not reversed. #HumanRights #GenderEquality #ChildProtection #Iraq #GlobalImpact
