"Some of the best advice and guidance I’ve received in my career was from people who had a completely different style, background, and/or approach from my own. That perspective, and the reminder that there are many different ways to see and do things, has been invaluable in my leadership journey."
Ronald A. Heifetz aptly stated, 'Attention is the currency of leadership.' We applaud our newest 'Ashley Leadership Foundations' graduates in Advance, NC, who spent their time and energy this week to improve their leadership skills so that they can help their teams and Ashley Furniture grow exponentially. Cheers! #LeadershipDevelopment#AshleyFurniture"
Today is Theodore Roosevelt's birthday, and we want to recognize the impact his parents had on his leadership. His father was a dedicated Unionist, and his mother supported the Confederacy. Roosevelt was raised with both ideals and the family found unity despite these differences. The lessons from his childhood would benefit everyone with his Presidential leadership. With our Higher Ground Leadership program, you and your team will explore the fundamentals of leadership and openly examine the challenges of the art of leadership like Teddy Roosevelt.

Happy National Principal's Day to all my colleagues and friends! As a principal, you get to wear so many hats in one day. It may not always be easy, but it is always rewarding. Today, I encourage you to take a moment to thank your principal for all that they do. While you may not agree with every decision or leadership style, showing gratitude can go a long way in creating a positive school culture. Let's celebrate and thank all the principals who have shaped our schools over the years! #leadership#principalsinaction#happynationalprincipalsday#gwinnettprincipals#georgiaprincipals
Our latest monthly leadership blog 'grit and glory' comes from Angie Campbell, Director of GLN UKI.
"We can all testify to a time when we are facing or dealing with grit in our lives. The difficult decisions, the losses, the heartaches, the betrayals, and the abrupt change in plans."

Out of the many orientations of leadership, I have always believed that stewardship is the most powerful of all.
We have been using the terms leadership, ownership and stewardship interchangeably but they have a vast difference.
The key difference being: A steward takes personal accountability to leave the resources better than they were, when they come in his/her care. Stewardship springs from the idea that wise management and passing on of property and privilege is an honourable role that brings meaning, pride and direction to the steward.
If you are the eldest/most looked-up to person in your family business, then it is important that you think from the lens of 'stewardship' not just ownership or leadership.

In reflecting on my trusted colleague's post, I focused on the phrase, "never let anyone devalue your worth." I quickly identified that often the person devaluing my worth the most is me.
Me, when I'm stuck in imposter syndrome, or not feeling up to snuff with where I want to be.
Me, when I assign value to the thoughts and perceptions of others, assuming they are devaluing me when that may not be reality at all.
Me, when I don't taking risks on myself or my abilities because of fixed mindset doubts.
Me, when I compare my accomplishments and achievements to those of others; comparison is the thief of joy.
I leave this as food for thought for you: how can you ensure you are not devaluing yourself, and that you are treating yourself with the same respect, support, esteem, and grace that you would someone in your circles?
One of my focuses this year has been to challenge my assumptions, confirming or correcting them before decisive action. This extends beyond assumptions of a project, situations, or the decisions and actions of others. I strive to challenge any negative assumptions of myself, as they are often false or fixed mindset.

Just reflecting on the chat I had with our next generation of leaders a few weeks ago…Never let anyone devalue your worth…leadership opportunities are not just awarded, they are earned….#freegamefriday#wordsmatter#nbmbaacharlotte
‘If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is ever favourable’ - Seneca. Yesterday started our 5 week leadership training in Blake House to empower Y12 to step up into Y13 and become the role models that are so important to build a fantastic boarding house culture. Small group sessions, registration briefings and activities will help our boys see that leadership in Blake House is not a title or percieved hierarchical position, it is applying a specific set of values and especially when it is hard to do so. ‘Management is doing things right, but leadership is doing the right things’ - Drucher. #Iloveboarding#leadership#studentleadership
