85% of the by-products from olive oil production are discarded as waste. Over 30 million tons worldwide each year, a staggering amount that has a significant impact on the environment – and PhenOlives is on a mission to change this. That was my core message during yesterday’s Climate Smart Food Summit 2024. A huge thank you once again to the event’s organizer FoodNavigator for the chance to share our experiences with industry partners about upscaled foods, and more broadly, discuss the challenges and opportunities within the food & beverage sector’s green transition. By upcycling olive oil by-products like olive pomace and black water, we’re not only reducing waste but also unlocking new revenue streams for farmers and olive mills. At the same time, these by-products are packed with nutrients like polyphenols and antioxidants that can offer health benefits to consumers when integrated into food products. But we can't do it alone! To truly scale this solution, we need strategic partners who share our vision. We’re looking to collaborate with: • Olive mills looking to reduce waste and increase revenue • Food companies interested in incorporating upcycled ingredients into their products • Experts and businesses who can help us apply black water to new industries like cosmetics, agriculture, or nutraceuticals • Investors and strategic partners who believe in the future of sustainable agriculture #UpcycledFoods #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #OliveOil #Investors #OliveMills #Upcycling #GreenTransition

Have you ever stopped to consider the far-reaching consequences of your next meal? Our food choices have a massive environmental impact. From agriculture causing deforestation, greenhouse emissions to food waste polluting landfills, our plates significantly affect the planet. Shifting towards plant-based diets, embracing seasonal and local produce, supporting organic farming, and minimizing food waste are crucial steps for sustainable living. Foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds offer a blueprint for a healthy and planet-friendly lifestyle. While challenges exist, even small changes like reducing meat consumption or choosing organically grown foods can make a difference. Let's be mindful consumers and support clean brands such as khadyam foods committed to procuring foods locally, and practicing sustainable practices.

OMG! By all standards I'm one of the most hardened people around when it comes to the negative effects of our food system on the planet – I have read all the reports and thereafter spent many a sleepless or mare-ridden night. Yet I jumped today when the UN Environment Programme put our their "Food Waste Index Report". In 2022 we wasted more than 1 billion tonnes of food. That means a fifth of all food available to households get thrown away. But before that we lost another 13 percent of food production in the supply chain. Lost food represents up to 10 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions and takes up 30 percent of all agricultural land. 1.3 meals are wasted every day for each of the almost 800 million people suffering from hunger. Only the European Union, Australia, Japan, UK and the USA track food waste on a suitable level making it possible to monitor and follow up. Both Japan and the UK have made some excellent progress, reducing food waste significantly. Where the others are we simply don’t know. For most of the world we don't even have basic data. As we all know, unless you can measure it - it doesn't exist. Read it and weep. And then come to the Sweden Foodtech Big Meet 9-11 april. We just decided to toss out the opening act on April 9th and instead focus on how we through software and new habits can make the shift much faster than today. Yes, we can. And we intend to prove it! https://lnkd.in/dHrM8Z_W
