Leading a team is simple There is not much about it. You need a few core things: •Trust •Empathy •Listening I’ve led a team of 10 developers and I can confidently say that, while there are many other things you need as a leader, these 3 are the minimum you need to connect with people and lead them effectively. Well if it’s that simple why are there so many bad leaders? - I never said it’s easy, but the core of Leadership is simple.

Great leaders don’t create followers—they create other leaders. I’ve always believed in empowering my team to take ownership of their work, and I’ve seen how this has led to remarkable results. When I first started managing, I was hesitant to step back, but as I learned to trust my team, I realized that true leadership is about giving others the tools and confidence to succeed on their own.

If there's one thing I've learned about leadership, it is that trust is the cornerstone of a successful team. When leaders foster an environment of transparency and accountability, they build trust and loyalty. This is a game-changer for productivity and innovation. A trusting team isn't afraid to experiment, share ideas, or admit mistakes—turning every challenge into an opportunity for learning. How do you cultivate trust within your team? The No. 1 leadership skill is hard to master. It's about your spirit, but rooted deeply in expertise. I've discussed this topic with multiple leaders. Many of them agree with my opinion; a leadership game-changer is: Inspiring others. And you know what? It's one of the toughest things to fake. You can't fabricate inspiration with just fancy words. It's all about a leader's dedication and passion for what the team is working on. Another eye-opening aspect is that inspiring others is spiritual by nature, but it doesn't work without solid know-how. So, being a professional yourself is essential for leading other professionals. And the last one: People can easily sense when you're trying to seem inspiring rather than actually being one. It all tracks in those little details. It quickly becomes obvious if you're just playing a character yet lacking an inner core. You have to truly embody the leadership role that the entire team looks up to. So, my recipe for inspiring hundreds of teammates? Genuine love for your work, deep expertise, and a strong spirit.
