Would you still be proud to receive the same award several times? When we received the EMAS certificate for the first time, it was a huge success for my family, our employees at the HARTING Technology Group, and myself. Sustainability and the responsible use of resources have always been a matter close to our hearts. This is also reflected in our corporate culture. Our employees often live the same values as private individuals, outside of work. Nevertheless, receiving the accolade again feels different from receiving it the first time. The first time, we were proud to finally meet the strict EMAS requirements and to receive confirmation that our efforts were finally going in the right direction. 😊 👍 For anyone who doesn't know: EMAS stands for “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme” and is a European environmental management system award. It is given to companies that make an effective contribution to environmental protection and thereby save resources and costs, among other things. EMAS is considered to be the world's strictest environmental management system. It ensures that certified companies like ours fulfill their environmental protection obligations and continuously improve their environmental management policies. Now that we have received this award time and again, we are excited in a different way. Rather than being pleased to have finally achieved it, we are pleased to be able to maintain our standards. It is still a great honor that our German sites within the HARTING Technology Group have once again been certified with the EMAS. Especially when it is a quality seal of such great global and social responsibility. 🌍🤝 It was not a stroke of luck to meet the EMAS requirements once. Instead, we continue to take actions to further improve our environmental management. We are not resting on our previous sustainability goals, but are constantly setting ourselves new milestones, that need to be maintained or even exceeded in the long term. Receiving this certificate again is not a matter of course for us and spurs us on to retain this important seal. 💪 #pushingperformance #sustainability #EMAS #EnvironmentalManagement #EnvironmentalProtection #environment #HARTING #certificate Geschäftsstelle des Umweltgutachterausschusses (UGA)

🌱 A new dawn needs new conversations… We all woke to news of a labour win in the UK General Election this morning. A new Government brings with it new possibilities for all aspects of our economy, society and environment. My role at DSEC has developed over the past 12 months into one allowing me to study towards IEMA’s Certificate in Environmental Management, and with it Practitioner level IEMA membership. The course so far has been challenging but eye-opening, and has deepened my understanding of environmental management systems, sustainability principles, and the importance of integrating these practices into everyday business operations. It has given me real, invaluable insights into the complex world of sustainability. And also shown me how urgently we need to start these conversations. 👉 So I want to start to share some of these with LinkedIn. Whether Rail is your industry or not, if Sustainability is important to you, I hope you can take something from the actionable ideas, innovations and successes I hope to talk about on this platform. 🔎 And we will for sure be following what opportunities arise from our new Government. #Sustainability #Innovation #UK #UKelection #Environmental #SustainableDevelopment

“… directing your organisation towards integrating [CSRD] into your business is actually the right approach, which means everybody’s got to be involved.” This is one of many insightful comments made by David Howe from Jordisk Consulting in our Climate Club webinar last week, emphasising the point – and the webinar topic – that CSRD is a team sport. In this clip from the webinar, hosted by Dr Ciarán O'Carroll, David discusses the challenge – and importance – of getting everybody involved in the corporate sustainability reporting directive, while Madeleine Murray highlights why it’s strategically imperative to be on your organisation’s CSRD team. 👩💻 Get everyone in your organisation ready for CSRD by signing up to our newly launched CSRD course. For those hoping that the new CEO would take the organisation in a new direction the intent is outlined here in the last annual business plan in this final year of the EA2025 corporate strategy 5 year cycle. Will the corporate scorecard metrics remain the same? Will sustainability become a bigger feature? Will we prioritise adaptation to climate change and Net Zero ambitions? Will a new Government change the scorecard to drive a new growth model based on the Dasgupta Review? Time will tell. #EnvironmentAgency #BusinessPlan #EA2025

In the current business environment, organisations are often judged by their culture and mindsets towards Environmental, Social, and Governance (#ESG) norms, and the #maritimeindustry is not an exception. Creating a sustainable and socially responsible culture is a continuous process that necessitates a collective effort and well-defined ESG-driven objectives and strategies. I am delighted to join forces with fellow industry stakeholders to address a pivotal question posed by SAFETY4SEA: "How do we cultivate the right culture and mindset for an ESG-fit maritime industry?"
