Do not overlook the value of news releases. Public Relations (PR) firms can promote your news by crafting the optimal newsworthy slant, writing your release, and putting it over the wire. Your news just might be worth pitching to producers, editors, and other media. For local papers, you can often write and submit articles yourself, depending on the topic. #NancyBurgess #StrategicMarketing #NewsRelease

5 PR basics I diligently adhere to: -Leave the story to the storyteller: Share what you want to talk about, get the facts right, and let the journalists decide how they wish to narrate it. -Read more, write more (read one book in a month, write one paragraph every day) -Transparency is the most valued aspect of media and client relations. -Experiment more: New concepts, ideas, and be innovative. -Physical and mental well-being: Taking breaks is a must because brain fog and writer's block are real. #thecorporatesufi #pr

A while ago, I wrote a blog post about 25 Ways PR Can Make A Freelance Writer’s Job Easier. Now, it's time to flip the script. While journalists may not be concerned with making PR’s job “easier,” we can all benefit by better understanding the professional expectations around working together. That’s why, together with our Pitchcraft members who work in PR, I've pulled together this list of 25 little ways that writers can be a shining star in the eyes of the PR pros they’re working with. (This was partially inspired by Melissa Libby's post on the topic last month, too.) Even if you disagree as a writer, keep in mind you never know where someone will end up. In the past three years as Pitchcraft CEO, I’ve seen more than a few publicists shift into editor roles at major publications. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/ezjfPmuW Then tell me, PR friends: What did I miss on this list? #prpros #prprofessionals #mediarelations #freelancewriters #mediaindustry #pitchcraft #businesstip #prtips

PR friends, let’s chat about something a little radical. Ever thought that maybe, just maybe, the secret sauce to PR success is... sharing our contacts? 🤔 Hear me out. Instead of clutching our rolodexes tight, what if we opened them up? A few reasons why I advocate this, as founder of a relationships-focused tech platform for publicists: ▶ Winning Together: When we share, we all rise. ▶ Story Magic: The right pitch finds its perfect editor. ▶ Trust Vibes: Nothing says “I’ve got your back” like sharing a contact. ▶ Open Doors: Being open invites respect and integrity. ▶ Growth Spurt: New contacts = new opportunities. An email is just an email. It’s what you do with it that is inimitable. Swing by my latest blog post to read six reasons that sharing contacts might be the breakthrough the industry needs during this time of a pervasive scarcity mindset I’m noticing. https://lnkd.in/erKW3v2s As a testament to how much I believe in this, consider this your personal invitation to DM me to ask for any contact you can think of (please be specific: i.e., the travel editor at XYZ publication, not any travel editor at any magazine). Open to anyone who works in media — PR, freelance writers, reporters, editors, hosts, anchors, producers. I’d love to help you if I can! #prpros #prprofessionals #mediarelations #freelancewriters #mediaindustry #pitchcraft #businesstip #prtips

My #PublicRelationsOfficers let’s meet here What do you see wrong with this press release🤔Can I even call it that? Someone asked me if it was a CV or a press release 😊 Aside the format, I couldn’t grasp what the writer was trying to say. I am here to emphasize that #organizations, #Publicfigures NEEDS public relations officers regardless of the size of their organization and not only when there is a crisis! Having a PRO will minimize the possibility of crisis and even when it happens, there will be a professional and smooth way to communicate with the public. Remember there’s no communication until the two parties understand each other. #PR #organizations #pressrelease

Crafting a successful press release requires concise messaging and meticulous attention to detail, including flawless spelling and grammar. Research shows that press releases with errors in spelling and grammar are more likely to be disregarded by journalists and editors. According to a study by Cision, 72% of journalists consider well-written press releases as more trustworthy and reliable. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize accuracy and professionalism in all communications. #PressReleaseTips ✍️ https://bit.ly/3yMUxH0 #CommPRO #PR

When it comes to answering question, I often watch leaders resort to "no comment" for several reasons, mainly due to legal constraints. However, "no comment" is often a no-go option in Public Relations (PR). Here are the reasons why: 1. Perceived evasion: It can seem like you're hiding something. 2. Uncooperative: It can seem like you do not want to help. 3. Open for speculation: It leaves the audience to interpret the situation themselves. Here's what to say instead: 1. Acknowledge the question: "I understand your concern, but I do not have the right details to provide to you at this time." 2. Make it general: "Our team is reviewing the situation and we will update you soon once we have the full statement verified." 3. Redirect to the right person: "That's an important question. Let me connect you with our spokesperson who can give you more accurate information than I can." ♻️ Feel free to repost if this provides value to your network. 🔔 For communication tips, follow me at Shin Chze #PublicRelations #Communication #CrisisManagement
