#BreakingNews: On Monday morning, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a nonpartisan research institute based in DC, will be releasing an important report that examines the feasibility of creating an independent cyber service, the US Cyber Force.
Following the release, FDD will host a discussion featuring the report's lead author, RADM (Ret.) Mark Montgomery, senior director of FDD's Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation. Mark will be joined by US Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation, and co-author Dr. Erica Lonergan, assistant professor at Columbia University.
RADM Montgomery, a renowned and esteemed thought leader in the Cyber Operations community and was Co-chair of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission ( https://www.solarium.gov/ and https://lnkd.in/eXU7hnHB )
Mark and his esteemed college, Dr. Lonergan, have collaborated to produce a thoroughly researched and comprehensive report that explores both the advantages and disadvantages of establishing an independent cyber service.
The live broadcast of their discussion will take place at 11:30 am ET on March 25th. Event link: https://lnkd.in/eb9FtbZQ
Irrespective of your current views on this complex and incredibly important issue, I encourage anyone who is invested in ensuring that the US and it's freedom-loving international partners possess overmatching capabilities to #protect, #defend, and #safeguard critical data and systems in cyberspace to tune in for what is certain to be a thought-provoking discussion.
#NationalSecurity, #CyberSecurity, and #CyberOperations are inextricably (and increasingly) linked.
