Did you know? Staffing levels in New York's nursing homes are among the lowest in the country. This means fewer hands on deck to care for the most vulnerable members of our community—our seniors. Adequate staffing is critical for ensuring that residents receive the attention, care, and dignity they deserve. When facilities are stretched thin, it impacts not only the well-being of seniors but also the mental and emotional toll on hardworking caregivers. It’s time we push for change—more resources, better support for nursing home staff, and policies that prioritize quality care for our elderly loved ones. #NursingHomeCrisis #ElderCare #HealthcareMatters #NYC #CareForSeniors #StaffingShortage

🌟 Exciting News For Florida's Nursing Homes! 🌟 Great news for Florida's nursing home operators! Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the Focus on Florida’s Future Budget for FY 2024-2025, delivering a significant 8% increase in Medicaid funding totaling $247.8 million. This boost equates to approximately $470,000 per facility across the state, aimed at addressing the rising demand for caregivers and supporting our senior residents. With 706 nursing homes currently in Florida operating at an average occupancy of 86.7%, this funding increase marks a pivotal step forward in ensuring quality care for our growing senior population. The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) has praised Governor DeSantis for his commitment to seniors and caregivers, emphasizing the impact this investment will have on enhancing workforce development and professional growth opportunities. Looking ahead, Florida anticipates adding 250,000 new residents annually through 2030, with a significant portion being seniors aged 60 and older. To meet this growing demand, the sector aims to fill 235,000 job openings in direct care by 2030, underscoring the importance of ongoing support and strategic investment. Florida's nursing home operators are grateful for the foresight of Governor DeSantis and the Legislature in securing Florida's position as a leader in senior care, both now and in the future. #SeniorCare #MedicaidFunding #FloridaHealthcare #Caregivers #Governance

Florida is facing a critical shortage of nursing staff amid a rapidly aging population, with seniors projected to make up nearly a third of the state's population by 2030. The Biden administration's new mandate requiring nursing homes to provide 3.48 daily care hours per resident exacerbates the urgency for innovative healthcare solutions. Dwyer Workforce Development (DWD) is addressing this issue through a holistic model that includes training, job placement, and support services. DWD has expanded its services across several Florida counties to help alleviate the workforce shortage and improve care for seniors. https://lnkd.in/e-vF7NdX #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #NursingShortage #SeniorHealthcare #AssistedLiving #HCBS #SeniorCare #ltss #ltc #AccessToCare

🏥 The recent mandate requiring 3.48 hours of nursing care per resident per day and an RN on-site at all times is a significant step, but it doesn't fully address the needs of our elderly population. 👩⚕️ While these changes are the biggest in 30 years, many argue they don't go far enough to ensure high-quality care. We need to develop solutions based on patient feedback, not just broad mandates. Targeted approaches should focus on recruiting and retaining qualified staff, ensuring adequate funding, and creating patient-centric care plans. By doing so, we can provide the high-quality care every resident deserves. #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #HealthcarePolicy #StaffingSolutions #ElderCare #HealthcareAdvocacy #PatientAdvocacy

https://lnkd.in/eK83bJS4 This is a good starting point. However resident health needs assessment such as total dependency for mobility, daily personal care , feeding to mention this few may impact care provided to residents is out of the 100 residents with only 3 to 6 nurses there are 30 residents fully dependent. Therefore great to see the current as a minimum to encourage care home to strive above the minimum.

Nursing a health staffing shortage. Yet the Biden administration insists nursing homes shouldn’t fear a new staffing rule, pointing to exemptions and more time to comply. “There is just not a registered nurse to be found,” administrator Paul Treffert, CEO of the 85-bed nonprofit home Sheboygan Senior Community in Wisconsin, told Robert. “Mandate whatever you want, pay whatever you choose, they are just not there.” The scale of the nursing shortage could impact whether the rule achieves its goal of improving quality in the nursing home industry. The systemic issues plaguing our long-term care sector, from insufficient funding to a lack of workforce development, have created a perfect storm. To address this crisis, we must invest in comprehensive training programs that empower our direct care staff and create a supportive work environment that values their contributions. This is not just a moral imperative, but an economic necessity. #skillednursing #longtermcare #directcareworkers #nursinghomes #seniors #eldercare #healthcare #healthcarecrisis #nursinghomes #workforcedevelopment #companyculture #careculture
