Beetles are fascinating creatures with much to teach us. Did you know there are over 350,000 species of beetles, making them the largest group of animals on Earth? They can survive in almost any environment, from deserts to rainforests. Additionally, beetles have been around for over 270 million years, showcasing their incredible adaptability. Businesses can learn a lot from beetles: the importance of diversity, the ability to thrive in various conditions, and the value of resilience and adaptation. Let's take a page from nature's playbook and apply these lessons to our own strategies.

And, a goldmine for reflection on how to confront or support these structures - depending on your values and goals. ❓ We are interested: - How do you make use of these or similar network maps? - How do you combine their use with other systems mapping approaches? [We are instead *not* interested here - as a group for practice and practitioners - on hair-splitting definitions of systems/network/ecosystem maps... or whether network maps are systems maps or not, etc. We are already doing enough academic work on definitions elsewhere 😊 🙏 ]

This heartfelt documentary took us on an incredible journey of two dreamers who turned a barren plot of land into a thriving ecosystem, full of challenges and triumphs. Here are three key learnings we took away: 1️⃣ Nature Works Best in Harmony: The film beautifully illustrates how biodiversity is the cornerstone of a sustainable ecosystem. From pest control to soil regeneration, nature has its own solutions when different species coexist and support one another. 2️⃣ Resilience Pays Off: Building something sustainable and meaningful takes time, patience, and persistence. The struggles faced by the farmers remind us that success is not a straight line but a series of challenges that lead to growth and innovation. 3️⃣ Every Action Creates Ripple Effects: Small, thoughtful changes—whether in farming or daily life—can lead to profound positive impacts on the environment and communities. Yesterday's approval of the EU's Nature Restoration Law is a landmark moment for environmental recovery. By setting ambitious targets to restore at least 20% of the EU's land and sea areas by 2030, and all ecosystems in need by 2050, the law provides a clear and actionable framework for environmental recovery. "It's great that this has finally come to fruition. It's an important step in the fight against biodiversity loss and climate change." says Lisa Wiatschka, innovation consultant for Wetlands, Agriculture and Climate Change. "It aligns with our mission to foster sustainable innovation and support projects that deliver tangible environmental and economic benefits." The projected return on investment—between €4 and €38 for every euro spent—highlights the significant positive impact that well-planned restoration can achieve. Passing this law represents a critical victory for environmental policy in the EU, overcoming significant opposition and demonstrating a strong commitment to addressing the urgent challenges of our time. We look forward to continuing our work in this field and collaborating with stakeholders to implement and exceed these targets.
