Calling all Wavelength Alumni 📢 You're invited to join us for our Wavelength Alumni Roundtable Event in June on "Everything you always wanted to know about AI (but were afraid to ask)" There’s a lot of heat around AI at the moment but arguably not a huge amount of light. In this session, designed exclusively for the Wavelength alumni community, Dan Taylor-Watt, who previously led the development of BBC iPlayer and now helps organisations respond to the challenges and opportunities of AI, will unpack this topic. Assuming no prior knowledge, Dan will cover: 💡what AI is 💡how it works 💡how it’s currently being used 💡risks and issues to be aware of 💡implications for media and society 💡how we might respond 💡where it’s headed next. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion. Places are limited so book now. (This session is available to Wavelength Alumni ONLY - so only those who have previously completed a Wavelength programme) BOOK HERE: https://lnkd.in/eJzsvNWc Wednesday 5th June, 11.30am-1.30pm, London. The leadership challenge of the future: Balancing AI's power with the essence of human connection. I recently had the privilege of speaking with a group of attorneys from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston about the growing role of AI. It might seem like an unusual topic for a leadership retreat. But the reality is that AI is profoundly changing the world of work. While AI has the power to enhance our efficiency, we need to ensure it doesn’t replace the essence of what makes us human. So, where do we draw the line between augmentation and automation? And what does it really mean to stay uniquely human in this fast-evolving landscape? These are critical questions leaders must address, and our conversation was just the beginning of that important journey. #Leadership #AI #FutureOfWork

Leaders, I had so much fun being panelist for the Saint Ignatius College Prep Business Society on April 11. Our topic: The business landscape and artificial intelligence (AI). Great discussion with fellow panelists Chunka Mui (our fantastic moderator), Ashwin Devnani, Don Rescigno and Larry Weithers and great discussions after the panel the many attendees. We know AI is changing our work life and personal lives. It's both exciting and a bit scary. I walked away feeling better. There are a lot of good people out there who are asking the right questions. I saw evidence of leaders paying attention, ready to engage and keep each other in check. Don't Mess It Up Our moderator Chunka relayed to the group, what his young daughter told him when discussing how he works with leaders on the future. She looked at him and sincerely said to him "Don't mess it up." Let's all be #warmdemanders of each other when it comes to how we use AI in our organizations. There's a lot at stake, but we got this.

"You don't have to be able to build cars to drive cars, but you need to understand their capabilities and what it takes to become a good driver. A #board can't merely be informed that the firm is building #AI competencies and watch from a distance. This book is essential for boards to understand and inform the scale and scope of AI in the firm. The operational and governance examples will motivate the board to start this complex yet essential work, and the framework will keep the board on track.” Kathryn Myronuk, Founding Staff Member & Research Director, Faculty, Speaker & Coach at Singularity University, Member of Engagement Committee of Future Earth AI Leadership for Boards Book: https://bit.ly/46aeGDk

AI is everywhere and there is no shortage of articles, commentary, and information on it. It is appreciated- and also overwhelming. I am thus grateful to The George Washington University for hosting the Business and Policy Forum this week, connecting the dots in just the right places and with a wonderful balance of markets, regulations, and technology. I walked out better informed and quite excited. Opportunities abound! Are you working on your usage cases and playing around with AI in simple things? Exploring is step one. Don’t be shy! #artificialintelligence #learning #business #government #technology #leadership
