3moI fully understand that talking about HIV and associated matters with friends and family is daunting. However, what is important is how you address the issue and your sensitivity and comfort level to talk about HIV. I have been trying to normalise discussions about HIV with my friends, family, and work colleagues for more than 2 decades. It has been encouraging as people like to be made comfortable, and I always looked at HIV as just a complex health condition, and judgement around it will not help. The discussion becomes easy as a large of people living with HIV are undetectable and I have very close friends who have been thriving living with that status. I also allow people to be unaccepting and unreasonable, take responsibility for their ignorance, and start from there. We need to remember the discussion will not always be easy but taking responsibility to open the discussion is important. The more you talk, the easier it will be for the conversations.
