Welcome to the End Exploitation Movement update. In this episode, you'll find an update on key solutions that are moving through Congress right now. These will protect kids online and prioritize survivor needs ahead of corporate profits and digital abusers. There's also an incredible new resource out with some of the best reliable research and talking points to combat the sex trade. And last but not least, the C Summit is in just about a month. We are honored to join Senators Cruz and Klobuchar at a congressional briefing to discuss a groundbreaking bill to take it down at. On October 20th, an incident at Westfield High School mark critical turning point for my daughter Francesca. Fate for my daughter and her nine friends that would never they never would have imagined a I knew the images called deep fakes. He took their actual bodies using AI. To make the images look even more real, these images are child ***********. These girls were 14 years old. Their innocence was taken that day. Nick Big has received thousands of reports to our cyber tip line relating to deep fake content depicting nude and sexualized content of children, and we believe this is just the beginning of a flood of deep fake imagery exploiting children. Once these photos were released, I dreaded school and was anxious to even step foot on campus. And I would ask every person in this room, every woman in this room, to think back. To what it's like to be in junior high and high school and that insecurity, that discomfort that we all have in our own skin. And then ask you to consider what these girls have been through. This is a horrific experience. Facebook was asked 400 times to take down the images and delete the account, and every single time they said that the fake account looked more real to them than the real account. That's the reality of what people are dealing with. This crucial legislation aims to prevent the devastating impact of image based sexual abuse. Our initial reaction of shock and disbelief evolve into anger and now determination. We must address this. This cannot be allowed to stand. I support the Cruise Klobuchar bill wholeheartedly. 12 cosponsors, bipartisan across the board, across the ideological spectrum. You have a right within 48 hours to force Big Tech to take it down. The Take It Down Act will protect and empower victims of nonconsensual intimate imagery by criminalizing its publication. Making it unlawful for a person to knowingly put such content on social media or other platforms. It's outrageous that tech companies can instantly remove copyrighted material. If you upload a clip from Disney or a pop song, it's gone in a heartbeat, risking an immediate ban from the platform. Yet if you upload a rape or hide a camera in a locker room, or create a deep fake pornographic image, you can do so without scrutiny. The lack of laws of really any laws right now. Now, both the platforms and the initial uploaders of this abuse to completely evade accountability, and we all could be victims. It's critical that we act now and we put people over profits. We applaud the senators for leading this vital charge. Let's make the digital world a safer, more respectable place for everyone's. Efforts to fully decriminalize prostitution relentlessly continue in the US and around the world. Water all sex workers past, present and future before decriminalization of prostitution, like legalization, is devastating. Not only does sex trafficking increase to keep up with the demand created by unleashed sex buyers, but many other harms and crimes follow as well. Just think of what's happened and places like Nevada, Germany, New Zealand, as well as the explosion in St. prostitution occurring in broad daylight in Queens, NY. Where because the local prosecutor is no longer prosecuting sex buyers and pimps, de facto decriminalization of prostitution is in full operation. Our Research Institute prepared 10 talking points on why we need to oppose decriminalizing sex, buying piping and brothel keeping. The Kids Online Safety Act This critical bill has 69 Co sponsors in the Senate. Cosa would ensure that these social media platforms designed with our children's safety in mind and that they meet minimum common sense safety standards. Crimes protecting kids online is probably the only thing that Congress can agree on right now. It has been 25 years with Congress doing nothing. To protect kids online, it must change right now.
