💔 "I was done with attending funerals." A message from Kindsey Chadwick: "That realization led me to partner with the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE). Before joining NCOSE, I worked in survivor services for victims of sex trafficking. I trained law enforcement and state attorneys, reciting a grim fact: only 8% of trafficking victims ever escape. But one day, I came to a harrowing realization: I was attending more funerals than rescues. It struck me—I was on the wrong side of this fight. I needed to get there before someone became a victim. That’s when I found NCOSE. " At NCOSE, we focus on prevention. Through advocacy, legislation, and litigation, we’re working to dismantle the systems that allow exploitation to thrive. 💔 The choice is ours: A future of endless funerals, or a future where exploitation ends before it starts. As we celebrate the incredible women in our lives this upcoming Mother's Day, let's also shine a light on a topic that deserves our attention: domestic violence. Behind the smiles and celebrations, there are too many women and girls silently enduring abuse and fear within their own homes. As a Board Member for Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, I’ve witnessed that the mission is not just talking about ending domestic violence; we're taking action with our Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT) Model. Recognized by the Department of Justice as a successful homicide reduction model, DVHRT is a lifeline for those trapped in dangerous situations. Here's how our support to Jeanne Geiger Institute can make a tangible difference: ✅ Early Identification: Through evidence-based risk assessment, we pinpoint the most dangerous cases, providing timely intervention before it's too late. ✅ Increased Support Services: High-risk victims receive enhanced access to supportive services, offering a pathway to safety and healing. ✅ Offender Accountability: Continue monitoring offenders closely, holding them accountable for their actions and ensuring the safety of survivors. ✅ Multidisciplinary Coordination: Jeanne Geiger team coordinates closely with law enforcement, social services, and community organizations to create a united front against domestic violence. Let’s make a difference. Your donation isn't just a contribution; it's a lifeline for those living in fear. Together, we can break the cycle of violence and create a safer world for every mother and daughter. #enddvhomicide Here is the link to explore more: https://lnkd.in/eY4MY5QB

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month. As your next District Attorney, I'm deeply committed to raising awareness about sexual assault every day, but Sexual Assault Awareness Month provides a crucial opportunity to amplify our efforts. It's a time to educate, advocate, and support survivors while working to dismantle systems that perpetuate sexual violence and hold offenders accountable. Sadly, it's likely that each of us knows someone who has been impacted by sexual violence; yet, it is one of the most underreported crimes. Every survivor deserves to be heard, believed, and supported. Let's break the silence, dismantle the stigma, and empower survivors to seek justice and healing. Let's all take action by supporting local organizations like the SAVA - Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center and ChildSafe that provide critical services to survivors. Whether it's volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness, every effort makes a difference in the journey towards healing and justice. Together, let's create a community where sexual assault is not tolerated, where consent is respected, and where every individual feels safe and valued. 🩵 #SAAM #SupportSurvivors #EndSexualViolence

When DomesticShelters.org last checked in with the national nonprofit End the Backlog in 2019, there were still at least 225,000 untested rape kits sitting in police, crime labs or other storage facilities across the U.S. The nonprofit was working hard to change that, thanks in large part to Detective Olivia Benson. Or, more accurately, her Law and Order: SVU real-life counterpart, actress Mariska Hargitay. The actress founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 in response to the influx of letters from fans who spoke of their own sexual assaults and how much her show resonated with them. The nonprofit’s goal is to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse by providing unique avenues of support and resources for survivors and advocates. In 2010, they began End the Backlog which strives to do exactly what it sounds like—a full-force effort to get rape kits off shelves and use them for their intended purpose—to catch perpetrators and put them behind bars. As of today, the nonprofit estimates the number of untested rape kits in the U.S. is closer to 46,000— a testament to the relentless work of those at the Foundation to create more accountability for rapists. However, by all accounts, that number is still too high and likely, even higher considering only 44 states reported and some may not even know where all their rape kits wound up. The nonurgency with which these violent crimes against (mostly) women perpetuated (mostly) by men are investigated is something that End the Backlog says needed to change decades ago. https://buff.ly/34e6Qse #DomesticViolence #Abuse #DomesticAbuse

⚠️ Gray Area Images: A Growing Threat to Children Online ⚠️ While child sexual abuse material is illegal, gray area images (GAI) present a troubling gap in legislation. These images, which depict children in sexualized contexts, are often not explicitly illegal but are used for sexual gratification. They are frequently found alongside explicit content, continuing to put children at risk. At Human Trafficking Front, we are advocating for stronger, global standards and clearer definitions to address the spread of GAI. The lack of universal terminology and laws has caused confusion, making it more difficult for law enforcement to investigate perpetrators and protect children. These images exploit children and erode their dignity and trust in adults, causing long-term emotional harm. It’s crucial to raise awareness and push for updated legislation to close the loopholes that allow these images to circulate online. For more information on gray area images and their impact, read our detailed research-based article here: https://lnkd.in/eDAMgM5B How You Can Help: Support us this Give Miami Day to fund our advocacy efforts and be part of the movement for change. Your donation will help us educate communities, raise awareness, and promote policies to prevent the exploitation of children online. Together, we can help stop the spread of GAI and ensure children’s safety online. The Holidays Are Here—But Not Everyone Is Home As we gather with loved ones to celebrate this holiday season, let us not forget the families who have an empty seat at their table. Across our communities, mothers, fathers, siblings, and friends are still awaiting updates on their missing daughters, sisters, and friends many of whom may be victims of sex trafficking. The holiday season can be especially painful for families who are searching for answers, clinging to hope, and yearning for justice. While we celebrate, they are enduring heartache and uncertainty. Let’s honor their pain by taking action: • Stay Alert: Be aware of the signs of trafficking and report suspicious activity. • Advocate for Awareness: Use your platform to share information and keep the issue visible. • Support Survivors: Donate to or volunteer with organizations working to help victims rebuild their lives. • Call for Change: Push for stronger protections and resources to prevent trafficking and bring perpetrators to justice. This season, let’s extend the gift of compassion and advocacy to those who need it most. Together, we can be a voice for the voiceless and a light in the darkness for families waiting to bring their loved ones home. #EndSexTrafficking #MissingLovedOnes #SupportSurvivors #Advocacy

Hundreds of thousands off little boys and girls are being sexually exploited. The people who are supposed to be protecting them have turned into the perpetrators. What do I mean? NCMEC shares that the top 2 categories of offenders of actively traded child sexual abuse material are fathers and family friends. That's why this is hard to talk about, and why I think child sexual exploitation's been hidden in the dark corners of the internet... quietly decimating the lives of so many precious children. But, on this World Day Against Trafficking there I feel hopeful. I believe we serve a God who loves these boys and girls more than we ever could, and I'm humbled by how He has led this mission. In the last year, alongside so many donors, our incredible partners, and amazing law enforcement, we have taken the fight against child exploitation to Capitol Hill to advocate for new legislation, trained law enforcement around the globe, and helped identify more than 800 children who have been sexually exploited…many of whom have been rescued and brought to safety. We also helped stand up an operation targeting offenders paying for the live streaming rape of children over the internet which has already produced 197 law enforcement leads. In addition, we've had the blessing of caring for so many incredible survivors across 43 safe homes around the world. If this evil pulls on your heart, I'm asking you to step into the fight with us today. Make a donation today and join our mission for these boys & girls: https://lnkd.in/e_3Ad-XX

Modern day slavery is alive and well in this country.
Author: Believe Me; Advances survivor-centered solutions to eradicate online sexual violence & sex trafficking; Co-founder @ Alecto AI + Founding Dir. @ Karana Rising + Co-founder + Advocacy Director @ STISA. Vegan.
There are an estimated 50 million people worldwide being trafficked or living in modern day slavery. Today is the 10th annual World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, as proclaimed by the @unitednations General Assembly. On that day, Tiffany had already been arrested more than three years ago. Across the country, the owners of Backpage.com - the world's largest marketplace where #sextrafficking victims were being sold in the United States- was being sued by child victims. And, the small nonprofit, FAIR Girls, that I co-founded, was building our safe home. It would be another 8 years 3 months before Tiffany was free. If we want less victims tomorrow, we must start believing survivors today. Read about how YOU can help support survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation: bit.ly/believemethebook (Believe Me is available online and in bookstores!) #believesurvivors #worlddayagainsttafficking #humantrafficking #metoo #humanrights
