Peer review, like Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), has long been a fundamental part of academic publishing, however, much like in-house IRBs of the past, traditional peer review is fraught with delays, inconsistencies, ethical issues, and inefficiencies, highlighting the need for privatization and professionalization. On September 26, 2024 at 11AM ET Dr. Gareth Dyke will be presenting at the Innovations in Peer Review Webinar on behalf of PeerReviewMe hosted by the Council of Science Editors (CSE) during Peer Review Week 2024 Dr. Dyke will discuss the case for privatizing peer review and how it mirrors the successful transition of IRBs to independent external bodies. 🤲Sharing this unique resource I found in my research for my final paper and presentation for my Master of Public Policy & Management Seminar class, exploring challenges of and strategies for communicating in the Post-Truth era. ✏️Test your sense for fake news with BAD NEWS, a publicly accessible media literacy tool created by Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab at Cambridge University. ❗️Leave all notions of ethics at the door and take on the role of a fake newsmonger. Your task is to get as many followers as you can while building your credibility - but don't tell lies that are obvious or disappoint your audience. 🧠 💉 The goal is to expose the tactics and manipulation techniques used to mislead people and build a following. Bad News works as a psychological “vaccine” vs. disinformation: playing it builds cognitive resistance vs. common forms of manipulation we encounter every day. Play now: https://lnkd.in/emnxkN3S
