Earlier this year, we finalized seven historic Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the military, so that Children's Advocacy Centers (CAC) can work with their military counterparts to ensure the safety and well-being of our military-affiliated families. The City of Niceville was awarded a Florida Defense Infrastructure Grant of $396,800 to support the architectural and engineering effort to design a proposed Cat-5+ 8,600 square foot Range Fire Station and a Cat-5+ 3,500 square foot Fire Rescue Emergency Equipment Storage Facility.

Did you know... -Approximately 2 million military children have experienced a parental deployment since 2001. -There are currently 1.2 million military children of active duty members worldwide. -Nearly 80% of military children attend public schools throughout the United States. -The average military family moves three times more often than their civilian counterpart. -The repeated and extended separations and increased hazards of deployment compound stressors in military children's lives. -One-third of school-age military children show psychosocial behaviors such as being anxious, worrying often, crying more frequently. -The U.S. military consists of approximately 1.4 million active duty service members and 810,000 National Guard and Selected Reserve. Active duty military families live on or near military installations worldwide. Deployment is difficult for every member of a military family, especially children. We cannot protect our children from all that is bad. Yet, we can learn to talk to our children about war. Use language that is easy to understand and does not hide the truth. Protect children from needless worries and concerns. Provide them with a sense of security and safety.
