📆 On 13th March, Ian Butler, Partnership Manager attended The Distributed Energy Show at the Telford International Centre, UK. The two-day event brought together the entire distributed energy resources supply-chain, to provide visitors with a comprehensive array of technologies and systems to generate, store, manage and distribute their own power and heat. 📝 Ian made the most of the conference programme by attending sessions on the future of the decentralised energy sector and the future of heat networks, including Government strategy to promote heat networks using reclaimed heat energy. With the UK expecting at least 20% of its heating to be obtained through heat networks on its journey to decarbonisation, it’s clear this is a growing sector for manufacturers and the industry. 💡 With networking a key mission, Ian met with Ken Gordon, CEO of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA) to discuss possible partnership opportunities. He also met several manufacturers who were keen to discuss the huge implications that are evolving in the decentralised energy sector. The consensus from visitors, exhibitors and speakers was that the UK needs to introduce bigger and more efficient heat network projects, while reducing energy usage, and utilising waste energy. We are delighted to announce we have started work to improve the energy efficiency of over 700 homes across Sunderland. The first phase of work began in Washington last month following Gentoo being awarded £2.845million from the Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Wave 2:2 fund earlier this year. We have partnered with retrofit solution provider Mears Group PLC to deliver energy efficiency improvement works to our customers' homes, including: •    Loft Insulation •    Cavity wall insulation  •    Improved ventilation •    Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels  •    Low energy lighting •    Smart, zoned heating controls The completion of the work will result in all 707 homes achieving EPC Band C with our customers benefitting from a warmer and more energy efficient home. A Large scale "#solarcarpark" has officially been opened in #Salisbury. The car park is at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre, and was completed earlier this year by Wiltshire Council and #solar, #storage and #smartEV charging specialist 3ti Energy Hubs. Since the technology has been installed the #solararrays have generated in excess of 20MWh per month. The solar installation at Five Rivers comprises three gullwing solar canopies covering 70 car park spaces. Five Rivers Health Centers use 100 per cent of the #solargeneration, which contributes approximately 10 per cent of overall electricity demand at the site. In addition, to support the UK’s EV charging infrastructure, Five Rivers became the first leisure centre to install 3ti’s #solarEV charging hub, Papilio3, built around an upcycled shipping container, and provides visitors and staff access to reliable, fast and safe EV charging. #Solar #EV #PV #Carpark #Energy #Renewablenergy #UK https://lnkd.in/gt9SsWdf

Recently we held a sod turning event to celebrate the first day of construction of our new Energy Efficiency and Appliance Safety Laboratory. With generous funding allocated by the Victorian State Government’s Industry R&D Infrastructure scheme, the new laboratory will be constructed with the purpose of testing and certification of new renewable energy technologies, ensuring they meet efficiency and installation safety standards for residential and business communities. 📍 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 | Queen's University Belfast   Queen's University Belfast wanted to design and implement a renewable energy solution to address the high demand for hot water within its sports facilities. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩. As part of this project, b4b Renewables installed and commissioned 30m2 of Solar Flat Plate Collectors to provide hot water for the new playing facilities. This involved mounting 12 panels on a purpose-built frame on a flat roof overlooking playing pitches. The solar panels fulfilled the client's need for a consistent and dependable hot water supply. As a result, the QUB Sports Facility has seen a decrease in utility bills and a positive effect on its carbon emissions. 🌟 Friday Site Inspection 🌟 Today, the Evia team conducted a site progress inspection of the new Solar PV system at The Retail Park Liffey Valley. The key details include: • System Size: 150 Solar Panels and Optimizers, 5 Inverters, and 14 Batteries. • Energy Generation: Designed to produce 60,000 kWh of clean energy annually, it will offset 100% of the common area’s electricity consumption, making it entirely self-sustainable. • Carbon Impact: The system will reduce carbon emissions by 15 tonnes annually, preventing the release of over 420 tonnes of CO₂ during its guaranteed lifespan. • Futureproofed Infrastructure Works: Includes civil works, safe access systems, and fire alarm integration to ensure seamless maintenance and future system expansion across the park. 🌿 Our innovative decarbonisation scheme will cut building energy carbon emissions by 10% and save over £500,000 in energy costs annually. The integrated energy solution includes a new combined heat and power plant, new energy efficient boiler, two air source heat pumps, 640 solar panels, a battery energy storage system, and various energy efficiency measures. We've installed 3,000 LED lights, replaced the aged steam heating infrastructure with modern high-efficiency, low-temperature hot water distribution, improved insulation, and upgraded the existing Building Energy Management Systems. This project is a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint by an estimated 1,000 tonnes each year, We are grateful for the £8m of funding from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) and want to thank everyone involved in this successful project. Learn what York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust did with the grant funding they received from the government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. ☀️ The installation of a 600kW air source heat pump system is capable of supplying 100% of the hospital's heating and hot water needs. ☀️ The energy project includes optimising the heating and hot water systems across the hospital estate.
