Thank you Michael to you and your team. We are so grateful for this visit and we look forward to building on the initial discussions started in these vital meetings and further visits in the future. #windrush #windrushgeneration #windrushlegacy
I haven’t posted in a while! My world has been a flurry of visits and events the last few months, with too many to mention, but there is a subject that my new bosses have bought to the forefront, which I’ve enjoyed being a part of. I recently had the privilege of reaching out to our Windrush stakeholders and do something that hadn’t been done in while at the Home Office, and that’s go out to visit them. The community welcomed us warmly and helped facilitate two remarkable visits: one for Minister Malhotra to the National Windrush Museum in Greenwich, and another for the Home Secretary to the Black Cultural Archives, in Brixton. Both visits were a great success, featuring vital conversations and laying a strong foundation for ongoing collaboration. Both venues are a great chance to learn about Black British Culture, which is important to all of us and I encourage everyone to go visit. This success would not have been possible without the exceptional efforts of Denize L.eadette and Lisa Anderson from the National Windrush Museum and Black Cultural Archives, respectively. I am also grateful to our Windrush team at the Home Office for their support in this significant endeavour. I look forward to the next one! Pics below! 📸
