Why I Skip Caffeine for the First 90 Minutes of My Day Many of us reach for coffee or tea first thing in the morning to jumpstart our day. But according to research shared by Dr Andrew Huberman, waiting at least 90 minutes after waking before consuming caffeine can significantly improve your energy and focus. The reason? Your body naturally produces cortisol (the wakefulness hormone) early in the morning, which helps you feel alert. Drinking caffeine too early can interfere with this natural cycle, leading to an energy crash later in the day when caffeine wears off. By delaying caffeine, you allow your cortisol levels to peak and taper naturally, promoting steady energy throughout the morning. I’ve started following this approach, and I’ve noticed fewer afternoon slumps and more sustained focus. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you! #productivity #energy #healthtips #sciencebacked #andrewhuberman #caffeinetips

Why does coffee make you… go? Ever wondered why your morning cup of coffee sometimes comes with a one-way ticket to the bathroom? You’re not alone. Coffee, beloved for its energy-boosting qualities, also has a curious effect on digestion. According to research, coffee stimulates the gastrocolic reflex, which activates your colon and encourages your body to… take care of business. Interestingly, this isn’t just about caffeine — decaf coffee can have a similar effect. The combination of compounds in coffee, including chlorogenic acids and N-alkanoyl-5-hydroxytryptamides, is believed to trigger this digestive response. Additionally, coffee can increase the production of certain hormones like gastrin, which helps move things along. First thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, the effect can be even stronger. So whether it’s your favorite espresso shot or a warm cup of “why bother?” (decaf), coffee isn’t just waking you up — it’s getting your digestive system into gear. Do you notice this effect? Is coffee a necessary part of your morning routine? When do you like your coffee? Let me know. #CoffeeLovers #MorningRoutine #DigestiveHealth #HowDoYouLikeYourCoffee

Look, it's right there in the instructions! I've recently been exploring caffeine options. → Coffee = anxiety, always → Red bull or yerba mate = slightly too intense, expensive, and addictive (for me) (I save these for special occasions) → Caffeinated hydration tablets = contain citric acid, so they neutralize my stimulant medication if I consume them too soon before or after taking my meds 🤦 But green tea? With its built-in l-theanine to aid with focus and relaxation? With its affordability and accessibility? I think we have a winner, folks. The only thing about tea is that I forget it exists once it's brewing. But that's okay because... cold green tea is still good. 😌 Maybe one day I'll invest in one of those fancy mug warmers, but this will do for now. What's your caffeine solution? Does coffee give you anxiety that you just fight through every day? 😵💫 What about your remembering-you-made-tea solution? 🪩 weird-wired .com
