#WorldToiletDay - 19th November 2024 Adequately sanitised, safe and secure toilet facilities are essential and central to our daily lives. However, according to the United Nations (https://lnkd.in/gM-chfu), 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million people who practice open defecation. Factors such as conflict, disasters, climate change and neglect contribute to the challenges in meeting “Sustainable Development Goal 6: Safe toilets for all by 2030”. The 2023 SDG Report highlights that “achieving universal coverage by 2030 will require a substantial increase in current global rates of progress...fivefold for sanitation and threefold for hygiene” (The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2023: Special Edition. 2023. DOI: 10.18356/9789210024914, p24). You might wonder, "What can I do about this?" While each individual’s capacity is finite, together we can help raise awareness about the urgent need for better sanitation and hygiene, as well as educate others on the critical role sanitation plays in disease prevention and improving overall health. After all, the universal truth for every person on Earth is that what goes in must come out—and we must find ways to manage this process to reduce the global sanitation crisis. As United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres so poignantly put it, “Unless we act now, the 2030 Agenda will become an epitaph for a world that might have been”. #CallToAction #SustainableDevelopmentGoals2030 #Sanitation #CleanToilets #HumanRights #PublicHealth #HealthEducation

Today, on November 19th, we join the world in observing World Toilet Day to raise awareness about the global sanitation crisis and the critical importance of proper sanitation for everyone. 🌍 3.6 billion people still do not have access to safe sanitation. It’s a reality that affects human health, dignity, and quality of life. Poor sanitation leads to the spread of preventable diseases like cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea, which are especially harmful in vulnerable communities. World Toilet Day is also about supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure access to water and sanitation for all by 2030. To achieve this, we need to invest in sanitation infrastructure, improve waste treatment, and work towards sustainable solutions that protect both people and the environment. At PBE Expert, we understand that quality, safety, and compliance are key to improving health outcomes worldwide! Our initiatives, such as our work in water quality testing, sanitation infrastructure consulting, and compliance support for safe waste treatment, play a crucial role in advancing sustainable sanitation solutions. On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that our work contributes to a healthier future, for everyone. 💚Let's continue to work together for a world where everyone has access to safe sanitation. From toilet problems, it causes water contamination and infectious disease problems. Even though fresh water is only 0.01% of the earth's water. Our technology will surely solve the toilet problem! #WorldToiletDay2024 #WorldToiletDay #WorldToiletOrganisation #SDG6 #MrToilet #SanitationForAllWorldToiletOrganization
Today is World Sanitation Day - a reminder that 3.6 billion people still lack access to safely managed sanitation facilities. Sanitation isn't just about infrastructure - it's about improving lives, saving time, and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. It touches every aspect of human dignity and development: our health, our families, our schools, our workplaces and our communities. Tuesday was World Toilet Day. Some top line sobering statistics: - 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation - 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water, including 115 million people who drink surface water It's humbling to read these whilst freely using the sanitation that we take for granted in the Western world. You can read more about the incredibly important drives by the World Health Organization to improve access to reliable sanitation here: https://lnkd.in/gM-chfu

Clean water and sanitation access are essential for health, development, and well-being. On the other hand, poor water quality and inadequate sanitation contribute to the spread of diseases like cholera and diarrhea, causing millions of preventable deaths each year. However, investing in clean water and sanitation infrastructure not only saves lives but also boosts economic growth, reduces healthcare costs, and promotes social stability. Finally, sustainable management of water resources is crucial to ensuring long-term availability for all. Let's work together to ensure clean water and healthy sanitation for sustainable development. #Sanitation #Health #Development

World Toilet Day 2024 campaign: ‘Toilets: A place for peace’ 1. “Toilets are a place for peace. This essential space, at the centre of our lives, should be safe and secure. But for billions of people, sanitation is under threat from conflict, climate change, disasters and neglect.” 2. “Toilets are a place for protection. By creating a barrier between us and our waste, sanitation services are essential for public and environmental health. But when toilet systems are inadequate, damaged or broken, pollution spreads and deadly diseases get unleashed.” 3. “Toilets are a place for progress. Sanitation is a human right. It protects everyone’s dignity, and especially transforms the lives of women and girls. More investment and better governance of sanitation are critical for a fairer, more peaceful world.” Key facts - 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million who practice open defecation. (WHO/UNICEF, 2023) - 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water, including 115 million people who drink surface water. (WHO/UNICEF, 2023) - 2 billion people still lack basic hygiene services, including 653 million with no facility at all. (WHO/UNICEF, 2023) - Unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene are responsible for the deaths of around 1,000 children under 5 every day. (WHO, 2023) - Improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene can save 1.4 million lives per year. (WHO, 2023) - Climate change has been declared an imminent threat to global health by the World Health Assembly, the main decision-making body of the World Health Organization. (WHO, 2024). #WorldToiletDay2024 #EndOpenDefecation #SafeSanitation #ClimateResilientWASH #ClimateEnvironemntEnergyDRR #CEED #HumanRight Source: https://lnkd.in/eP5YAHxB

1wSuch an important topic 💡 The statistics are truly staggering and highlight the critical need for urgent action to address the global sanitation crisis. The ambitious targets in addressing this require a concerted, multi-stakeholder approach – one that includes governments, NGOs, private sector, and individuals alike. The issue is not just about infrastructure; it’s about education, behaviour change, and ensuring that communities understand the critical link between sanitation and health.
