Our ladies who climb group is expanding! Great to see women supporting women 🙏❤️ I cherish our weekly Tuesday morning connect where we take on the hills of Mosman and help support each other in all areas of life including career. It’s amazing when you conquer a big hill, the belief it can instil. Also the humility when members have taken time out for different reasons and being kind to yourself and trusting in the power of consistency to rebuild strength. I think we can transfer lots of lessons from sport to business including the power of practising consistency, discipline and humility. https://lnkd.in/eWKiGmW8 It was International Women's Day recently, and despite knowing so many amazing women; I didn't feel compelled to post. But, the most amazing thing has just happened, a woman named Jasmin Paris has just completed the Barkley Marathon. She is the first female finisher of the world's hardest marathon - 5 loops of an incredible 20-26 self-guided miles over gruelling terrain in no more than 60 hours. There has only been 20 finishers since the race started in 1986. In recent years, the 100+ miles covered without the aid of satellite navigation, sees the finishers climb more than 54,000 feet, twice the height of Everest. I've run a few marathons and a few ultra marathons, but in comparison to this race, mine have been like walking one lap of the park run! I have no words to describe how enormous her achievement is for her, but for all women too. Women are generally the weaker sex, except when they're not! There are a lot of similarities between running and business. Both are hard, but in different ways. Both take practice, skill, endurance, resilience and humility. At the end of the day though, it's hard-work that generates the biggest medals. #Foodhub

🥇 Jasmine Paris became the first woman to complete one of the world's toughest races this weekend, The Barkley Marathon. 😤 Only 20 people have ever finished it, since it was extended to 100 miles in 1989. Mostly the news every year is, no one completed it. It is a race of legend in running circles. 💡What does this mean for us, on a day to day? 🏔 Whatever mountain you're climbing, whatever challenge you have in front of you, on the other side of hard, is where you find growth. 📈 On a performance curve, that doesn't mean having to push ourselves to strain every day. But moving out of your comfort zone, to stretch, that is where magic can happen for you. ⬆ It will also grow your comfort zone, so you can keep climbing new mountains. #peakperformance #stretchyourself https://lnkd.in/e_HdXrpU

Another great time working as part of the Eventage team for yesterday's NYC Half Marathon. I usually work the start but this year had the chance to see the marathoners near the end in Central Park and cheer them. Motivate many of them to continue going because the finish line was so near. And yes we were there until the last marathoners!!!! Lessons I've learned every time I've seen the marathoners of all abilities, shapes and sizes which truly align with life: 1: It's a challenge from the first moment all the way until the last moment. 2: Celebrate starting. Celebrate every mile reached. Celebrate finishing. Also celebrate not finishing but trying and doing your best. 3: Embrace every obstacles. The up and down roads. The crossing the bridges. The getting cramps. The doubts. The praise. 4: Stay hydrated and take a break when needed....that's why we're there with our fluid stations and medical tents. WE GOT YOU! And if life we have a cheer team even if we don't realize it. 5: Everything is possible no matter what your abilities are or what you look like. YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU CHOOSE IT! Including during those tough moments. It's you against you! #nychalfmarathon #marathonlife #work #events #marathon #lifechallenges #mondaymotivation

We need to hear from all female triathletes! SheRaces and Fund Her Tri UK need your help! https://lnkd.in/eq-Zx-q8 We need your help to fully understand the considerations on how to make Triathlon a more gender-inclusive sport so we can create guidelines to support every triathlon and welcome all female athletes. Our research stats from surveys are great for getting attention. Our original finding that almost 90% of women would be more likely to enter races that committed to inclusivity got race directors thinking 💰 But we find it is your race stories that provide the real insight. They help us drive change with races by explaining how issues have affected athletes. WHY we didn’t sign up for a triathlon, or WHY we felt uncomfortable on the start line. What it was that gave us a less-than-perfect race experience or made us feel less valued. We also want to hear what races have done well – what has made a positive difference so we can help other races do the same. Every response is valuable and we need to hear views of a diverse range of athletes – from novice to experienced, of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, backgrounds and preferred triathlon distances. Please support us by sharing with any clubs you are part of and nudging any triathletes you know.

IMBA Europe is tackling diversity in the cycling/mtb sector by walking the walk - or it is riding the ride? The #IMBASummit2024 will have 40% female speakers and panelists. Additionally, they have set an ambitious target of 30% female participation in the event (from 18% in previous years). Fantastic initiative by the team - Cathy Naveaux Thomas Larsen Schmidt Manon Carpenter Mark Torsius During the summit, we seek to have diverse voices and thoughts at every table throughout the program. Additionally, there will be a women`s only meeting in which to speak about challenges specific to the MTB sector and together, identify which issues we should focus on in the future. Why women only? To create a safe space in which to share and be heard. If you are a woman in this broad sector of MTB industry (guides, instructors, academic, commercial, manufacturing, policy), I invite you to come and have your ideas heard as we seek to build a better trail together. 🚵♀️ https://lnkd.in/euQc4Ea5

How do affect change in your business? It can be tempting to make radical changes to overhaul your business, but I think this comes with some risks. I'm more of a fan of incremental improvement as I think it is achievable by all of us, can be done quickly and can have suprisingly swift effects. And I was reminded of this in a great presentation recently by David Hawes at the #evening meeting of The Business Community, when he spoke about the British Cycling Team. https://lnkd.in/eRD2vckx What changes have you made to your business in the last couple of years? #Change #IncrementalChange #BritishCycling #MarginalGains #PixoomaCanHelp
