In short: 1. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has some low-level evidence to suggest it is helpful in coccydynia. 2. The Sharp-Purser test is not a valid test to diagnose upper cervical instability in people with rheumatoid arthritis.
Our Clinical Lead, Dr Christopher McCarthy, presented an insightful Poster at IFOMPT 2024, showcasing our latest advancements in Physiotherapy Research. We're proud of his contributions to the field and our ongoing commitment to Evidence-Based Practice. #IFOMPT #Physiotherapy #Research #ManchesterMovementUnit #DrChrisMcCarthy

Visit to Maxima Medical Center: Collaboration for Innovative Research! Recently, as part of our Interreg Deutschland-Nederland project MedCam AI, we strengthened a valuable partnership during our visit to Maxima Medical Center in Eindhoven. During this visit, we discussed the ACNES study protocol with Tom ten Have, a medical researcher. ACNES, a condition where patients experience chronic neuropathic pain in the abdomen, is at the core of this study. Ten Have mentioned that much is still unknown about ACNES,and the current diagnostic process relies on pain history and physical examination, both of which are subjective tools. Thermography could play a crucial role in the diagnostic process by visualizing skin temperature differences caused by underlying nerve damage. This makes thermography a potential objective diagnostic tool, which could lead to a more accurate diagnosis. "We hope that thermography helps with earlier and more accurate diagnosis, as current methods are often subjective. We don’t fully understand nerve pain yet," said Ten Have. This research offers an opportunity to learn more about diagnosing ACNES patients and to contribute to more effective diagnostic methods. Are you curious about more insights and the latest developments in thermography? Register now for our Symposium on November 30 and discover how this innovative technique can make a difference in the medical world. 🔗 Register here: Thermo-Scope.com/symposium #interregdnl #interreg #euinmyregion #europaomdehoek #MedizinischeForschung #ACNES #MaximaMedischCentrum #Thermografie #Symposium #WissenschaftlicheZusammenarbeit
