🤝 The NCD Policy Lab annual Coordination Meeting in #Geneva – a resounding success! It brought together NCD Policy Lab partners in Geneva for 3 impactful days. Starting with partners update and reporting on their NCD Policy Lab 2024 activities. Followed by Capacity Building activities through the intervention on #UniversalHealthCoverage by Jean-Marc Thomé from P4H Network, with Romaine Jean learning how to communicate a complex message effectively & with Martin Leschhorn Strebel from Medicus Mundi Switzerland learning about key tools to address the challenges of Science to Policy. 🌟 All the partners were able to create meaningful synergies across the NCD Policy Lab main pillars: Research, Capacity Building & Societal Engagement. The discussions were a significant step to advance the mission of the NCD Policy Lab, bridging the gap between #Science and #Policy to promote evidence-based solutions for #NCDs. 🚀 Exciting developments for 2025 are on the horizon—stay tuned for more updates! #NCDPolicyLab #CoordinationMeeting24 University of Geneva, HUG - Hopitaux Universitaires de Genève, NGO Santé Diabète

🗓️ Just a week ago at the SSIEM 2024 Annual Symposium in Porto, Vanessa dos Reis Ferreira, PhD MBA had the incredible opportunity to participate in a panel exploring the cultural differences of living with an Inborn Metabolic Disease (IMD). Alongside inspiring patient advocates Laura Smith van Carroll, Hanka Dekker ✔ , Karen Reznik Dolins, and Anna Moskal, they discussed into the unique challenges and learnings that arise when leading research with and for patients and their families. 📍Key learning: Cultural differences greatly influence how patients and families navigate the complexities of IMDs. Recognizing these differences is vital for driving impactful, patient-centered research. 👉 Let’s continue these important conversations and collaborations to improve global healthcare. Together, we can achieve so much more. #ExploringNewHorizons #Porto #SSIEM2024 #PatientAdvocacy #IMDResearch

I welcome the change by ESCMID - European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases to rebrand the popular ECCMID conference to "ESCMID Global". The move currently echoes their vision to make science more accessible to the rest of the world especially Low-,Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs). As a further gesture of goodwill, I humbly challenge the organisation to host the next conference in a LMIC or any of their neighbours. Travel overseas is marred by tedious and expensive VISA restrictions as well as exorbitant transportation and accommodation costs. In my experience almost all CM & ID presentations start off with how LMICs carry the largest burden. Is it not time we make our ground-breaking international science even more accessible to LMICs, their lawmakers, their brilliant scientists, and hardworking healthcare workers? #ECCMID2024 #ESCMIDGlobal #AccessibleScience

🚀 Day 2 at FIP World Congress 2024 – Exploring Global Health and Innovation ✨ Day 2 of the FIP World Congress took a deep dive into healthcare access and the evolving role of pharmacists. I had the opportunity to attend several fascinating sessions: The Plenary on Equitable Quality Health Care featured Dr. Pakishe Aaron Motsoaledi, highlighting the urgent need for transforming healthcare systems to ensure quality care for all. Prof. Marc Blockman's insights on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) were eye-opening – especially understanding the balance between cost-effectiveness and accessibility. Prof. Natalie Schellack introduced us to the concept of task-shifting and the expanded prescribing rights for pharmacists under the PCDT model. This discussion truly showed me how pharmacists can play a greater role in primary care. Dr. Mariet Eksteen and Mr. Paul Sinclair’s insights on tobacco cessation programs in the evolving role of pharmacists in increasing access to treatment and health outcomes in South Africa and globally inspired me to work on creating awareness programs at my university and in local pharmacies to address public health issues. Looking forward to applying what I learned to make a meaningful impact in South Africa! Special thanks to: Dr pakishe motsoaledi , Prof. Professor Marc Blockman, Prof. Natalie Schellack, Dr Mariet Eksteen PhD Eksteen, Mr Paul Sinclair AM #FIPWorldCongress #EquitableHealthcare #PharmacistRole #PrimaryHealthCare #PublicHealth #TobaccoCessation #PharmacyEducation #FIP2024

A large number of international, national and regional conference are organized every year. At times speakers and participants 🗣 present thought-provoking, insightful ideas through panel discussions, oral and poster presentations on thematic areas, but unfortunately many of these may be largely forgotten once conference is ended. For institutional memory 🤹♂️ and documenting the conference proceedings, recommendations and way forward NPHICON-2024 Conference Compendium📒 (organized by NCDC from 23-25 Feb 2024) is prepared and hosted at NCDC website which might be useful for policy making, required interventions and desired change.
