Improving the Meetings that Matter | CEO, XLeap | Advanced Facilitation Software | Do Twice as Much, in Half the Time, for Ten Times the Results

The future of #GenAI is all about agents… but not this kind of agent! McKinsey & Company produces some of the highest-quality thought leadership content around, and this article by Lareina Yee, Michael Chui, Roger Roberts, and Steve Xu is one of the best I’ve read recently. For the uninitiated, a GenAI-enabled agent is a program that can interact with and adapt to the real world, using a “foundational model” trained on vast, unstructured datasets – rather than relying on rules-based systems. The article puts it far better than I can, but that’s what we’re heading towards: “from thought to action”, as the authors say. For me, one of the key benefits that AI agents bring is what the McKinsey team here call the ability to “manage multiplicity”. That is, to deal with unpredictable workflows, uncertain outcomes, and regular judgment calls. AI is already fundamental to how we see the future of the XLeap platform, starting with AI participating in brainstorming, which will be featured in our next version, v7, due for release at the end of this quarter. We see AI as a key player required to participate in key meetings; a key player that should be present, as AI is increasingly trained in the matters being discussed. However, humans should remain in control and the AI should not be allowed to dominate nor “take over”, nor even automate the brainstorm session completely. Thank you to McKinsey for putting out this kind of practical thought leadership. It really helps those of us working in the AI space get the message across! PS Ironically, this picture was generated by AI. It’s a “suave, international spy as a robot”, because ChatGPT’s content policy prevents it from making images using copyrighted secret agent character James Bond… 😂 #FacilitationSoftware #Consulting #AI https://lnkd.in/eRGZjF4n

Neal Bastick, your highlight of the McKinsey article on GenAI agents is a timely piece. It's fascinating how AI can now participate in brainstorming, adding a new dimension to decision-making processes. I agree, keeping humans in the driver's seat is crucial to maintain ethical standards and personal responsibility. Looking forward to seeing how XLeap incorporates this in v7! AI-generated spy image made me smile, too.

Interesting take on GenAI-enabled agents! I agree that AI should enhance rather than replace human decision-making. To ensure deliberate and balanced solutions, AI must contribute to brainstorming while remaining under human control.

Fascinating insights on GenAI-enabled agents! We are excited to see how this will integrate into platforms like XLeap, where AI will complement, not replace, human decision-making.

Neal, I couldn't agree more with your take on the McKinsey article. The concept of AI agents managing multiplicity is a game-changer for platforms like XLeap. It's exciting to think about AI's role in enhancing brainstorming sessions without overstepping its bounds. Can't wait to see v7 in action!

We completely agree with your perspective on AI agents, Neal. The potential to manage complex workflows is exciting. It's interesting to see how organizations are starting to adopt AI in team settings.

Interesting perspective Neal, AI can in concept be the "smartest person in the room", however, it will be a while before it will be able to provide the human touch that is always needed.

It's fine as long as AI remains under control. Fingers crossed we don't go too far with this technology.

Great post, Neal. We completely agree that AI agents will play a crucial role in facilitating discussions and managing complex workflows.

Thanks for sharing Neal. AI has its place but there's nothing like human brainstorming.

Neal Bastick Thanks for the great share - I appreciate AI as I can do much more with less time, however, I agree that it should not replace a brain storm nor replace it. Use it to help spark more creativity.
