I see it happen so often and it drives me crazy! If you sign an option grant that says that everything offered in the grant is subject to the Option Plan, but then you don't review (or have your attorney review) the Option Plan, or it doesn't even exist yet, then it's like you're signing a blank check! It also means that whatever you're being offered in the option grant might not be worth the paper that it's printed on because theoretically things can be changed in the Option Plan. There's two ways to avoid this (+ 1 other tip): 1. Read the Option Plan and make sure it offers the same commercial terms. 2. Clearly state in the grant, that the Option Plan can't include any commercial conditions that are substantially worse than those offered to you in the grant (like the exercise period/price, the number of options, etc.). Tip: be sure to also check that there isn't a section that says that if they fire you "for Cause" that you don't get any Options, and if there is, then make sure that the reasons considered as "cause" are very limited. p.s.: actually there's no p.s. - just don't do sign it without doing the above....

I was initially intimidated by the "price tag" of a potential LSAT journey. If you are too, check this out: Many different services will attempt to seduce you with the promise of an increased score, in exchange for a one-time, monthly, or even annual subscription fee. I found myself worrying that without significant financial investment in third-party materials, I wouldn't be prepared for the test. Or, rather, those with the financial advantage may be MORE prepared. Not to mention the actual cost of registration for the LSAT, which is between $248-$300 depending on if you opt to view your score early. For me, like many, that was no small sticker shock. I knew that if I wanted to take the January exam, I was going to need to fork over that money. Right? While gazing longingly at the registration page, I saw the link I had previously overlooked. "Apply for a fee waiver" it kindly suggested. I assumed that I wasn't eligible, but I submitted an application anyways, attaching the requested tax paperwork from last year. Within 24 hours, I was approved for a LSAC Tier 1 waiver package, which included a full year of LawHub advantage, loaded with real full-length practice tests and drills. It also included not one, but TWO waived LSAT registrations AND free score previews for both. These resources would have cost me over $700 out of pocket, delaying my journey for up to another year. Instead, I am registering for the January LSAT today. (The deadline? Today!) Don't give up, and don't give in to paid promises. If you are resourceful and determined, self-guided study is as legitimate as any advertised program. Gathering free materials from the library, taking available free practice tests, and utilizing the extensive videos/podcasts online will help you to build your knowledge and skills and prepare for the LSAT. You can do it! To see if you are eligible for a fee waiver, visit this link: https://lnkd.in/ezrmvFs7 #LSAT #LSAC #lawschool #financialaid #notanad
