This year's theme for Africa day is 'Educate an African fit for the 21st century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.' It is everyone's job to ensure that our educational systems are aligned with the ever-changing digital world we live in. Let us not be ignorant, but rather keep up with the 21st century educational systems. Every African child has the ability to prosper if they are provided with the skills and knowledge required to navigate the digital world. This is consistent with the AU's Agenda 2063, which places education at the heart of creating a successful Africa based on inclusivity and sustainable development. As such, it contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG #4, which addresses quality education. #africaday #iamanafrican #agenda2063 #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #educationinafrica #africanunion

Celebrating Africa Day 2024 with @cmssouthafrica 1. With the African Union 2024 theme for Africa Day in mind, what role does @cmssouthafrica play towards building Africans fit for the 21st Century within the legal profession? An African legal professional fit for the 21st Century recognises the importance of innovation, resilience, and cultural awareness as key principles required to play a meaningful role in the global market. At CMS we strive to develop our professionals in their specialised fields of practice to exude these principles as a way of practicing law. This is done by opening the doors which provide access to global markets and clients, facilitating discussions regarding key trends in law and ensuring that our services reflect the needs of the corporate society in which we operate. 2. How can African nations adapt their education systems to ensure lifelong learning opportunities that cater to the evolving needs of individuals in the 21st century workforce? African nations need to be bold and unapologetic about adapting the current education systems with the African child at heart. The curriculum must mirror the societies that we live in and the great empires from which we are born. The vision of building a workforce which is empowered, authentic and dynamic starts with how we educate our children. African nations must recognise the limitless opportunities which exist in Africa and become fanatic about developing our countries for the greater good of Africans. 3. What constitutes “relevant learning in Africa”? Relevant learning in Africa to me is a call to ensure our educational systems in Africa cater to our specific circumstances and aspirations. Our diverse local cultures, languages and experiences must be included in educational materials. To know where we are going, we must remember where we come from. Africa’s history has for too long been distorted, vandalised and taught to us from outside perspectives. Indigenous knowledge systems and practices need to be integrated into our curriculums right from early childhood development centres to higher education institutions. As family members and members of society we are responsible for ensuring that we do our part by providing access to books by Africa authors, supporting and developing skills to address local challenges as well as providing education that is accessible to all. #cms #cmslaw #africaday #africaday2024 #africa #legalprofession #relevantlearning #youngafricantalent #transformtheordinary

We can't afford just to be talking (Rhetoric) anymore; it's time to re-calibrate the future of education we all desire in Africa. We need an education system that is inclusive, innovative, Afrocentric, people-centric, and futuristic. We can't build a super Africa if the inequality in access to quality education remains high. It's time to shift from a consuming continent to a producing powerhouse. 🌍 The Annual Transnational Future of Education in Africa is a platform that brings together institutions, educators, policymakers, students, NGOs/CSOs, parents, and students from across the continent and the diaspora. Together, we'll discuss the opportunities and challenges facing our educational sector in Africa. Remember, no nation can grow beyond the quality of her education. #FutureOfEducation #SuperAfrica #EducationForAll #InclusiveEducation #Afrocentric #InnovationInEducation Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities, AFTRA Ashoka Association of African Universities Association of Colleges MultiChoice Namibia Conservation Namibia The World Bank African Union EduSkills Foundation Oxfam
