Back in 2020, I postulated the presence of an information phenomenon - the Blockchain Black Hole - into which all blockchains will eventually fall and disappear for ever. However, unlike celestial black holes, which absorb light energy, Blockchain black holes are driven solely by sound energy. Initially, all blockchains are announced with immense sound and fury, like Wagner's Ring Cycle played in a telephone box at volume 11 - bound to be a great hit and a solution to most known world problems! But over time, the pfttt of irrelevance slowly deflates all blockchains , like a bicycle tire with a slow puncture, until they hit the non-event horizon and are sucked into the black hole. The sounds begin to diminish, not with a bang but a long whimper. Never to be heard of again, except on LinkedIn, where repetition of discredited information reverberates forever. I believe now we can claim the theory is (fairly well) proven and move on to searching the night sky for blockchains that have fallen towards the black hole before being resurrected as ETFs (Extra Terrestrial Fiascos). But this only delays the inevitable and these remnants will eventually stray too close to the edge - pftt............ #blockchain

I am happy to share that my review paper titled "Tackling Economic and Environmental Sustainability Issues through the Integration of Blockchain Technology" has been published in Journal of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai. I presented the paper in the Internation Conference on Economics and Environmental Sustainability organised by Chaudhary Charan Singh University. The paper, with a technical tone, sets examples and case studies and solutions to modern problems in economics and with better blockchain technology, striving for environmental sustainability as well. I attended an excellent seminar yesterday at the Asia Blockchain Summit with the Microsoft economist Glen Weyl (who has written a book with Audrey Tang). He pointed out the obvious: #decentralization is as much a matter of ideology as practicality in the blockchain community. The gold standard propounded by crypto enthusiasts is in fact the most centralized monetary system possible; economists have spent decades showing that money creation in the real world is already less centralized than that. Weyl proposed #stablecoins which could be used to track the multiple coexisting inflation rates corresponding to different consumption baskets. Maybe they are connected to "community currencies" already implicit in the financial system? We do know, but mostly ignore that #inflation hits different communities in different ways. An intriguing idea, but money supply is not the only factor which moves prices. I'm not as convinced as he is that this problem can be solved solely through "#data" but would be interested to see more research.
