✔ PFC & clothing dye removal targets set, impressive progress so far.
✔ Clearly defined climate strategy with scope 1,2 & 3 reduction targets set.
✔ Social investments in Protect Our Winters & ClimbAID.
What could be better:
⏫ A focus on energy consumption during product production.
⏫ Water-use listed as a higher priority, clothing has a high H20 footprint.
⏫ More emphasis on cross-industry collaboration.
⏫ More aggressive net-zero targets, 2050 is not good enough!
⏫ Bigger emphasis on circular economies throughout the value chain.
Overall, Mammut has made some steadfast commitments and impressive progress towards achieving better business practice, they are a purpose driven business and their CEO Dr. Heiko Schaefer certainly appears to have both planet and people as a priority going forward.

Over 100 sports organizations and elite global athletes have called for Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Bottler Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympic Games to curb plastic pollution by significantly increasing access to reusable options.
In a letter written by these organizations and athletes, they ask Coca-Cola and Pepsi to make reusable packaging an option for all their customers globally to dramatically increase reusable packaging by 2030. They also call for assurances that future Olympics and other major sporting events will rely on reusable packaging rather than single-use.
Additionally, this letter advocates for the inclusion of legally binding targets and other mechanisms to increase reusable packaging in national legislation and in the UN plastic treaty.
The 113 signatories include 102 athletes and 11 organizations, representing 43 sports and 30 countries. Over 50 Olympians, Paralympians, World Champions, and World Record Holders signed the letter, including 22 athletes who will be competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

👋 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 - As a Fair Wear Foundation member, Mammut and all their suppliers must comply with the eight elements of Fair Wear’s Code of Labor Practices. In 2021, 96% of their supply chain was monitored according to these standards.
⛰ 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯 - Mammut's marketing strategy revolves around inspiring outdoor enthusiasts to embrace the mountains. One aspect features community initiatives like the Close the Loop circularity project across climbing gyms and communities in Switzerland and the global awareness raising #togetherforglaciers campaign.
👕 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰 - signatories of The Microfibre Consortium since 2017, hitting 55% organic cotton in their apparel collection in 2021 and they’ve worked with bioRe to ensure all their organic cotton t-shirts are traceable back to smallholder farm level via QR code. They also meet the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).

Two days left! The Outdoor Changemaker Award celebrates sustainable transformation within the outdoor community. Nominees are chosen by sustainability experts at Peak 63, Suston - Sustainable Outdoor News by NORR Agency and Gidås Sustainability Agency.
The award highlights initiatives that prioritize collaboration rather than competition and is open to individuals, groups, companies, and organizations.
In 2024, the award has expanded its scope to include both Sweden and Norway, broadening from its 2023 focus on Sweden.
The next Changemaker will be announced on October 3rd at the Sustainable Outdoor Professionals' conference in Östersund, Sweden. In 2023, the award was given to the Solros project by the footwear brand Icebug AB.
