Strengthening Collaboration for Malaysia’s Digital Future Today, I had a constructive meeting with Anuar Fariz Fadzil, the new CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Our discussion centered on how to enhance collaboration in critical areas such as skill development and digitalization. Malaysia stands out in the region, boasting the essential enablers for a thriving digital economy: 1. Digital Skills: A workforce being upskilled to meet the demands of the future. 2. Digital Policies: Forward-thinking frameworks that foster innovation and growth. They 3. Digital Infrastructure: A world-class 5G network that sets Malaysia apart as a digital leader. MDEC, with its vision of leading Malaysia’s digital economy since 1996, has been instrumental in catalyzing digital transformation. By driving investments, supporting tech companies, and empowering businesses and individuals to embrace digitalization, MDEC is solidifying Malaysia’s position as the digital hub of ASEAN. As we move forward, the key will be to develop a robust ecosystem that drives innovation and unlocks the full potential of this strong foundation. ✨ Strengthening ASEAN Access: Building a Future Beyond Borders ✨ 🌏 As we celebrate ASEAN day, ASEAN Access had a busy start to the week by welcoming the key partners from the 10 ASEAN Member States in Bangkok on Monday, 5 August. ℹ In the meeting, we discussed strategies to grow the platform, network and services sustainably with an impact driven approach and increased focus on virtual business matchmaking and online training sessions, or how we call these: MATCH and LEARN. Astana hosts the first Asia-Pacific Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, which was attended by representatives of the commercial unit of Jusan Mobile, headed by Chief Commercial Officer Arman Maralov. This important event brought together state leaders, digital technology experts and leading companies in the region under one roof to discuss key issues of the future of digital innovation. The main objective of the conference is to strengthen regional cooperation and focus on bridging the digital divide, improving digital literacy and ensuring stable and reliable digital communications. One of the central points was the speech of the Minister of Digital Development of Kazakhstan, Jaslan Madiyev, who stressed that more than 90% of public services in Kazakhstan are available online, which helped the country to take a leading position in the UN ratings on digitalization. Events of this scale not only contribute to the creation of an inclusive digital future, but also open up wide opportunities for business development. This, in turn, will stimulate economic growth and expand opportunities for the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, creating new prospects and strengthening their positions in the global market.

In 2022, 💡 our (E)DIH ONEX coordinator Bojan Cudic 💼 played a key expert role in crafting BiH's Innovation and Digitization program (launched by German BMZ and GIZ). This program aimed to bolster the SMEs sector in BiH by enhancing its innovative capacities and digitization efforts. 🔍 Among its objectives, the program focused on fostering digital innovation hubs (DIHs) in BiH. Based on the activities of the local GIZ office, 🌐 4 new DIHs were selected and supported in BIH. 📆 Fast forward to the beginning of 2023, and DIH ONEX wasted no time, initiating steps for BiH's involvement in the EU Digital Europe program in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship. 🌟 Now, our next endeavour is to secure membership of our EDIH ONEX consortium in the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs. ✅ Consortium members are Digital Innovation Hub ONEX, Univerzitet u Banjoj Luci, University of East Sarajevo - Univerzitet u Istočnom Sarajevu, mtel.ba, LANACO and APIF.
