Saudi Arabia's journey in water sustainability began nearly a century ago with the introduction of Al-Kandasa, seawater distillation through condensation, in 1928 (1348 AH). This technology, initiated under King Abdulaziz Al Saud's vision, marked the Kingdom's first step in addressing water scarcity and set the foundation for its leadership in water innovation. Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Innovation-Driven Water Sustainability (IDWS) Conference, a platform for exploring innovative solutions in water sustainability. The event was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, H.E. Abdulrahman AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and H.E.Abdullah Alabdulkareim, president of Saudi Water Authority. A highlight of the conference was the keynote by Eng.Tariq Alghaffari VP of the Saudi Water Authority, on "The Future Leadership of Water in Saudi Arabia Through Integration and Innovation." I was also pleased to meet Professor Peng Wang where we discussed potential future collaborations in water research. My sincere thanks to Saudi Water Authority (SWA)for organizing this exceptional event and their continued commitment to enhancing water sustainability. It was a great opportunity to connect with experts and explore new ideas for advancing water sustainability. #IDWS #ResearchCollaboration #WaterInnovation #Sustainability #Networking #SWA
