Joe Fassler’s article in The New York Times has stirred up quite a conversation in the industry, declaring the demise of the cultivated meat sector. Although I’ve never invested in cultured meat, largely due to the reasons outlined in the article, I believe the transformative efforts of this industry are noteworthy milestones in their own right. Indeed, there are numerous strategies to reduce emissions from major agricultural contributors like cattle and rice cultivation before we venture into lab-produced meat. I’ve invested in several of these solutions 😊AgriG8. However, it’s important to acknowledge that this industry has sparked a wave of innovation, paving the way for the production of diverse ingredients in fermentors. This not only enhances the quality and availability of ingredients but also aids in reducing #emissions and achieving #ESG objectives. Companies like Phytolon with their natural colors and Celleste Bio Ltd. with lab-grown cocoa are just a few examples. Today, Fertilizers Europe's President, Leo Alders, addressed the European Parliament's Agri Committee on the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of Agriculture which has recognized #agriculture and #food as strategic pillars for Europe’s economy and sustainability. He stressed the vital role of fertilizers in ensuring #foodsecurity, contributing to 50% of food production. He also emphasized the sector’s commitment to #precisionfarming and #innovation to boost efficiency, reduce waste, and maximise environmental performance. The revival of INMAP was welcomed as a key step for better #nutrientmanagement and sustainability. Leo also discussed the fertilizer sector’s ambitious journey toward decarbonizing its production, highlighting its commitment tosupporting the decarbonization of food production across the EU. Finally, Leo called for EU support in three critical areas: - Access to sustainable #energy - Development of a market for low-carbon products - A supportive legal and funding framework Fertilizers Europe remains committed to actively contributing to the ongoing dialogue with stakeholders, particularly through the European Board of Agriculture and Food (EBAF), to advance sustainable agriculture and strengthen collaboration across the sector.
