While your dog might find discarded barbecue embers irresistible (no accounting for taste) and all part of a fun day, these perils could prove fatal for your furry friend. And other hazards? Dr MacMillan advises owners to be aware of large holes in the sand which could be a trip hazard for dogs chasing toys; saltwater (it can dehydrate them); jellyfish (in case they’re stung) and strong currents and waves. During winter, small breeds with short coats and toy breeds will struggle to keep warm.
