A good progress for Malaysia and Singapore.
I have met PM Anwar Ibrahim on previous occasions. But this is my first time engaging him in my new role. It was good to have a candid exchange of views, and establish a strong basis of mutual understanding and trust to take our bilateral ties forward. We both agreed that it was crucial for us as PMs to set the right overall tone for cooperation, to guide our Ministers and officials to discuss issues in the right spirit, and pursue win-win outcomes. The more closely we cooperate, the more we expand our economic space and secure benefits for our peoples. Malaysia and Singapore share enduring ties of culture, kinship and history. Our two economies have complementary strengths and there is much to gain by synergizing efforts especially through projects like the Johor-Singapore SEZ. I am confident our partnership can create many new opportunities to uplift our peoples, and keep our region competitive, vibrant and forward-looking. (📸: MCI Photo by Ngau Kai Yan)

Selamat Hari Merdeka, Malaysia! Last Saturday, we celebrated 67 years of unity, freedom, and the remarkable journey of our beloved nation. As Malaysians, we come together to honor our shared history, diverse cultures, and the values that make us stronger as a community. May this Independence Day inspire us to continue working towards a brighter, more prosperous future for all Malaysians. Let's cherish our rich heritage and work hand-in-hand to build a nation that we can all be proud of. P.S. You might notice I'm wearing a "Fear of BOD" shirt. For those unfamiliar, BOD stands for Biochemical Oxygen Demand. In the water industry, BOD is a crucial parameter that measures the amount of oxygen required by microorganisms to break down organic matter in water. High BOD levels can indicate pollution, which can harm aquatic life and affect water quality. Monitoring and managing BOD is essential to ensure clean and safe water for all. Happy Merdeka Day, everyone! 🎉🎆 #Merdeka2024 #MalaysiaIndependenceDay #UnityInDiversity #ProudMalaysian #WaterQuality #BODAwareness

🇲🇾 The Malays are the largest ethnic group in Malaysia, comprising almost 60% of the population. They play a pivotal role in the nation's culture and politics. Alongside them, various of Bumiputera tribes, Chinese and Indians contribute to Malaysia's rich multicultural tapestry, creating a vibrant blend of traditions and communities. Note : Malaysia is home to over 200 distinct ethnic groups and tribes, particularly in the states of Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo, as well as among the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia. In Sabah and Sarawak, you can find major indigenous groups such as the Iban, Bidayuh, Kadazan-Dusun, and Murut, among many others. The Orang Asli, the indigenous people of Peninsular Malaysia, are categorized into several groups, including the Semai, Jahai, and Temuan. This rich diversity showcases Malaysia's unique cultural heritage. 📷 Andy Pua

I feel that the difference between merely living in Malaysia, and trying to fix it is : an expensive context switch between living under established defenses developed against a hostile environment, to actively examining the blueprint of sh-t that explains that the environment is hostile by accident, as a result of too many layers of dumbf-ckery over generations.

🇲🇾 Sabah, a state in Malaysia Malaysia means the land of the Malays. But is Malaysia really the land of Malay people? In fact Malay people in Malaysia only account for 57.9% of the total Malaysian population. Malay people in Malaysia also includes people of Indonesian ethnicities like Minang, Javanese, Bugis people, etc. In Malaysia these Indonesian ethnicities are counted as "Malays". Some other states in Malaysia are not Malay lands. Just like Sabah whose majority people are not Malays. Sarawak is also another state in Malaysia whose majority people are not Malays. Penang is also another state in Malaysia whose majority people are Chinese. Malaysia is really a multicultural country.
