Christmas Celebrations Christmas is here again which calls for the ultimate celebration. We all know the reason for the celebration. It's a period where people travel far and near to be with loved ones purposely to express their love for one another. After the month of celebration, it is a new month and a new year. This new month involves a lot of things such as: 1. Children going back to school - School fees must be paid and other school related expenses must be met. 2.Financial drought - Money scarcity is something else during this period 3.Policy uncertainty - This is the time especially on the 1st January of every year the government of every country has something to say either positive or negative to the citizens. To end this write up, here's the recaps. - Prepare yourself ahead of the new year so that you would not be taken unaware. - Spend less and save more to overcome the January financial scarcity. - Stay away from crime for better tomorrow. Cheers!!!

St. Louis, I don’t often make a direct ask for your support on social media, but this year is different. While inflation has impacted us all, low-income families have been especially hard hit, and this holiday season will be particularly stressful for parents struggling to make ends meet. Each year, Beyond Housing’s Holiday Friends gift-giving program provides holiday gifts to children from low-income families who otherwise might have nothing under the tree. While the number of individuals who have adopted a child has increased over last year, the overall dollars have not and the children of the families we serve need us now more than ever. As or right now, there are still 100 children that need to be adopted. Holiday Friends is much more than a gift-giving program. By becoming a Holiday Friend, you’re not only filling homes with joy—you’re also empowering parents to stay on track with their financial goals and provide holiday memories without sacrificing their stability. Please help ensure that no family is left behind this season. Visit our website and become a Holiday Friend to make this season joyful for those who need us most. https://lnkd.in/g3vG5NCd

It's always so surreal (like a video game wasteland) walking around U.S. cities. A minute in either direction from a manicured neighborhood can be as bad as the worst places I've ever been around the world. There are whole blocks where multiple houses are boarded up and even propped up by beams jutting out over the sidewalk to keep them from falling over. There's trash everywhere: alcohol bottles, cigarette cases, random food packaging, etc. The occasional cop with park amongst black people loitering just to sit there. The businesses will be closed or boarded up, like the place I tried to go grab breakfast. this building even has mature trees growing out of cracks in it.The person I'm house sitting for runs a nonprofit that buys these dilapidated heaps from the city and refurbishes them, since the city would have to spend more to knock them down. They do it for community purposes or to allow black women to be home owners for example. They have 15+ buildings they're doing now, and one right next door that was partially refurbished and then burned. It's shocking that many of them can ever be made inhabitable. It has very post-apocalyptic, "The World Without Us" vibes. The neighborhoods just remind me of Back to the Future 2 dystopias. The buildings that are in business seem to be for profit healthcare (like daycare for adults), private security, convenience stores selling lottery tickets (a placebo to momentarily relieve the pain of the dead American dream), and churches (big, Fascist ones).

"As her fifth proposal as part of her affordability agenda for the 2025 State of the State, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a historic initiative to ensure every single one of New York's over 2.7 million students can receive breakfast and lunch for free at school. This monumental program will help save parents money, address food insecurity among New York kids, and create more opportunities for students to succeed." https://lnkd.in/eZ_vqW4j NYS is joining nine other U.S. states to provide free universal school lunches. A study, published reviewed information from over 11,000 schools with universal free school meals and found that students in those are likely to eat, especially at lunchtime, compared to those without free meals for all. These family-strengthening measures lay the foundation for the entire family's success by helping decrease stress within the household. Prevent Child Abuse New York proudly signed on with other coalitions to support this initiative earlier this year.

Thanks to your support, Nazareth Housing’s Housing Stability Support Program (HSSP) continues to keep the individuals and families we serve housed, strengthen neighborhoods, and address housing and homelessness disparities. Through case management, HSSP prevents evictions; connects families to financial empowerment resources; enrolls clients in benefits like SNAP, Cash Assistance, and Medicaid; and provides vital support amid growing housing challenges. With the end of eviction moratoriums, ERAP funding, and enhanced SNAP benefits, these services are more critical than ever. This year's highlights include: 👏 1,033 individuals were enrolled in benefit programs such as the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE), Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) 👏 624 households on the verge of eviction successfully retained their housing Our programs are dedicated to helping low-income New Yorkers build futures filled with hope and opportunity. Every contribution, regardless of size, enables us to address the crises that individuals face and support them through the highs and lows of financial strain. With your gift, we can make an even greater impact. 🔗 Visit https://lnkd.in/eRQthBZd to make a gift today #Homelessnessprevention #CommunityImpact
