Supporting and Educating Veterans is What We Do!
At the "Visit from a Vet" Luncheon veterans enjoyed free lunch and good conversation.
Veteran Outreach Program Specialist Edward Smith was on hand to spread the word about the benefits of RI's local Providence Vet Center.
Who is eligible? Veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard members reserve members, and family members. Their goal is to create connection, camaraderie, and community through group or one-on-one counseling and support -- and lots of recreational activities, such as fishing charter excursions, biking, guitar groups, and sporting events like Bruins games.
Edward says, "A vet at NEIT might be doing fine right now, but what about next year when life gets more challenging? Also, he or she might know five other veterans and one of them might be going through a hard time. We take a personal approach and help everyone, whether it's providing direct resources or referrals for individual needs."
