Last week, I had the privilege of leading my colleagues in the defense of a project we had meticulously worked on for several weeks, titled "Cost-Effective Energy for Multi-Source Systems." Our presentation focused on optimizing energy use across multiple sources traditional grids, solar panels, and diesel generators by developing a strategy that significantly reduces energy costs while maintaining operational efficiency. Our team’s approach combined cutting-edge data science techniques with practical energy management strategies, leveraging predictive models and optimization algorithms to ensure a sustainable energy mix. By focusing on minimizing operational costs and maximizing the reliability of energy supply, we were able to showcase a system that can be applied in real-world scenarios, particularly in industries where energy demand fluctuates throughout the day. The presentation itself was well-received, with positive feedback from the judges on both the technical depth of our analysis and the clarity with which we communicated our findings. The results we demonstrated not only highlighted the financial impact of our solution but also provided a compelling case for the integration of renewable energy sources in multi-source systems. As a result of our hard work and dedication, we were honored to be recognized as the 1st Runner-Up, a testament to the innovative solutions our team brought to the table. This achievement underscores our ability to tackle complex problems, collaborate effectively, and deliver impactful results that can drive meaningful change in energy management. #DataScience #DataScientist #DataJobs #Recruiters #Hiring #DataAnalyst #Energy SAIL Innovation Lab

🔋 Ever wondered how available ERCOT’s batteries really are? Since January 2021, ERCOT’s battery energy storage systems have maintained a stellar 93% availability rate—far surpassing thermal generators, which average just 76%! And unlike thermal power, batteries don’t experience seasonal dips, making them even more reliable when the grid needs them most. ⚡️ Curious to dig deeper into insights like these? We’re hiring a Market Analyst in NYC to join our team at Modo Energy! If you’re data-driven, passionate about energy markets, and ready to uncover the trends shaping the future, this could be the perfect role for you. In honor of my colleague, mathematical physicist, and economist, Dr. Robert U. ("Bob") Ayres — who alas died a year ago this coming October 23rd, and building on his research to understand "energy as work" (rather than energy as a mere commodity sold in the market at some price), I might suggest rethinking job titles to something more like: Director of Productive Energy Assessments or Director of Productive Energy and Natural Resource Assessments Indeed, the future rate of a lagging of energy productivity improvement, both globally and within the U.S. economy, suggests an erosion of per capita GDP at all levels. My current estimates suggest real GDP may grow at a weaker rate than imagined so that, in the future, we may have fewer investment dollars and government revenues for social services, R&D, workforce training, environmental policies and the like — even as we have a greater population. Hence the need to rethink energy. As colleague Steve Keen, and Bob noted in a journal article 5 years ago, "Labor without energy is a corpse. Capital without energy is a sculpture." To which I would add, "Data and water without energy do not flow; and plants without energy do not grow." Again, the need to expand our understanding of energy at all levels. . . Skip
