As we discussed in our previous blog post by Dr Jenny Byrne, not only are healthcare professionals "checking out" - but they're also "leaning out" - making vocational choices that fit their perceived needs for life-work balance. For those of us who manage practices as proprietors how much resource can we devote? "Leaning out" is not just a generational phenom - it's also vocational! Wonder why the workforce is shrinking - what are our so-called "trusted institutions" doing to support our workforce instead of exploiting it? Join us for part 3 in our series as Dr Jennie Byrne, MD, PhD discusses how frustrated clinicians are not only leaving practice and "checking out early" but also "leaning out". Share your own professional journey on our blog or contact us by email. Let us know your thoughts!

As a nurse and experienced wellness advocate in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy program, I understand the power of setting ambitious goals. I will complete the program in February 2025. This endeavor is about fostering wellbeing and empowering others to achieve their best selves. Me too! I'm curious to hear about the professional goals of my connections. What are you working towards, and how can we support each other? #Networking #HealthCoaching #ProfessionalGrowth

Are you juggling too much in your healthcare or educational role? You’re not alone! This is a common struggle, especially in high-pressure environments. As a Teaching Professor, Psychologist, and Consultant, I've experienced firsthand the challenge of maintaining wellness amidst the demands of our roles, which often leads to burnout, hindering our ability to support others effectively. That's why prioritizing teams' wellness is crucial. I am grateful for the opportunity to speak at Nurse and Teacher Appreciation Week at Lower Columbia College, where we'll dive into this important topic. This workshop is packed with insights drawn from years of experience in the field. What does a Healthy Team look like? We’ll talk about: 1.Characteristics of well-functioning healthcare and educational teams. 2.How helpers can best help others while also being mindful of and compassionate towards themselves and their wellness. 3.How to help effectively when team members are struggling, 4.Communication skills and tactics, 5.Development and maintenance of a personal coping plan, and 6.Reinforcing core values to inform decision-making. Attendees will leave feeling empowered and equipped with actionable strategies to create a healthier team culture. Let's make this Nurse and Teacher Appreciation Week truly memorable! Big thanks to Merry Bond for making this happen. Together, we can lead the way in building resilient, compassionate teams that thrive. #teamwellness #communicationtactics #personalwellness #resilientteams #NurseAppreciationWeek #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Tait Shanafelt Amy Edmondson and Don Berwick have so much to teach us. Thank you all for your wisdom and for sticking at it for decades, you inspire me to keep going when it often seems too hard. The bare bones summary of my recent learning from these three teachers is: 👉🏼deliver healthcare change at the unit level, make it locally relevant by working with the people in the department on what they already know will make a difference (Shanafelt) 👉🏼Be willing to make intelligent mistakes, experiment with intent to learn and keep iterating as you learn. Make it safe to learn. (Edmonson) 👉🏼Stay focused on the intention, love and be curious, champion each other so that fear is unnecessary (Berwick) You can read more and find the links to my teachers in my recent blog. Healthcare leaders of all disciplines can use this extremely simple activity to spark engagement and connection among staff. A little bit of structure, 10 minutes of time, and let the process unfold. It is called, "I Am ________", comes from applied improv, and I describe it in this Kevin Pho, M.D. article. https://lnkd.in/ePEfJW7j If you try it, I'd love to hear your feedback.

Executive functions are for everyone, and in this video, I will talk about time management. It's the ability to manage tasks within a time frame. The biggest myth about time management is that we can manage it. Time is time. We only have 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 seconds in a minute. What we can do is learn how to manage ourselves within our time frame. When you're living with an illness or a chronic condition, or when you are a Caregiver caring for someone, time management is essential because managing yourself well within the time frame is critical. Some tasks need to be completed on time. Some things need to be done now and not later. When it comes to taking medication, when it comes to doctor's appointments, time management is critical. If you're struggling with time management, 🙏🏽 DM 📩 me. I will hook you up with an excellent Medical Coach or Caregiver Coach. Time management is a skill you can learn and perfect. And if you're a coach struggling with your own time management or want to be more helpful when you coach your clients about time management, 🙏🏽 DM 📩 me. #MedicalCondition #TimeManagement #ExecutiveFunctions #MentalHealth #livingwithanillness #chronicillness #medicalcoach #caregiver #caregivercoach #medicalcoach #medicalcoaching #medicalcoach #mci #medicalcoachinginstitute Olga Matsouki Cécile Garache Isabella Puddu Maria Beatriz Albuquerque João Carlos Ferreira Suzan Verzijden Medical Coaching Institute (MCI) Greece Rede de Medical Coaches Brasil Medical Coaching Institute (MCI) France Medical Coaching Institute (MCI) Italia e Svizzera italiana

✨Monday Motivation: "How high is your Emotional Intelligence?" ✨ In healthcare having emotional intelligence – can be just as important as technical skills. A nurse who listens patiently, a doctor who comforts a worried patient, or a coder who calmly manages stress all rely on emotional intelligence to make a difference. 💙 With emotional intelligence you enhance both patient care and teamwork. It helps you manage stress, interpret patient needs accurately, and lift team morale by approaching each day with optimism. A healthcare worker who embraces EI goes beyond their role to create stability in patient and team experiences. Start the week by practicing mindfulness and self-reflection. Every day, a few minutes of focus can strengthen your emotional resilience, allowing you to create a supportive space for your patients and colleagues. 💪✨ #MondayMotivation #EmotionalIntelligence #PatientCare #HealthcareExcellence
