In his latest post on The Times of Israel, NGO Monitor President Gerald M. Steinberg argues that the United Nations “Human Rights Day” should “be repackaged as Antisemitism Day, reflecting the systematic weaponization of the original values and principles in order to demonize Israel and justify attacks on the Jewish people.” https://lnkd.in/dFjmcfdk

Thousands of women in conflict zones are victims of s*xual violence and we truly need more support and safety in the world, for women and children. S*xual violence also affects men, not only because they are partners/husbands/brothers and parents to someone being violated but because they are at risk of being violated too. Strong shame and guilt can make it impossible to speak up. Being s*xually assaulted cause immense emotional distress and can lead to suicidal thoughts. Being a witness and unable to protect someone exposed to s*xual violence is also deeply traumatizing. The intersection of sexual and mental health is real. If Dr Denis Mukwege can do all of 👇 this 👇 - then what can I do? As a Sexual Health Specialist and Mentla Health Advocate I can always: #Breakthesilence - Making sure I hold space for these stories and work both on macro and micro-level to make a change #Traumawareness - Continue to Educate about the intersections of Mental health and S*xual health #GlobalHealth - is for everyone, and affects everyone everywhere. The burden of trauma is inherited through generations and we all need to do our part. Let´s not forget the male s*xual assault/traumasurvivors in this. #sdg3 #sustainabledevelopment #srhr #globalgoals #blacklinkedin #traumasurvivor #socialimpact
Since this video, Dr Denis was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. In 2018, Dr Denis Mukwege + Iraqi Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict" #congoweek

"BACK TO PRE-1948?" "THE FUTURE WE DON’T WANT" This is from the The State of the World’s Human Rights Report of Amnesty International published in April this year. https://lnkd.in/e58WBnxP In the preface, Ms Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty wrote about "moral failure... of the architects of the post-World War Two system" which leads us back to the "hell whose gates had been bolted closed in 1948.“ She means the wars in Gaza and Ukraine but she is trying to be an optimist: "I hope that in 2048 – or even 3048 – when diplomats and activists look back at the past year, they will find that there were many, many good people around the world who did all they could. Who stood up and spoke out. For the sake of our common humanity." I like this honest confession that the post-World War political order is almost over, including the human rights protection system, but I find it hard to share the optimism. Rather, it seems to me that the intellectual elites of every ethnic, national, religious group in the world should focus on the questions: What will a return to the pre-1948 world mean for us? What should we do? For example, what would that mean for European Roma? The elites have moral obligations and responsibilities during the time of crisis. And among the reasons for the great sufferings of the peoples subjected to genocides in the past was the inability or unwillingness of their elites to foresee and prevent these catastrophes.

🔴 First-Ever DNC Panel on Palestinian Rights: We Need to “Restore the Soul of the Democratic Party” | Democracy Now! Productions Description: This year, the 2024 Democratic National Convention Committee held its first-ever panel on Palestinian human rights. The panel came after persistent grassroots organizing against U.S. support for Apartheid Israel’s assault on Gaza. We play excerpts, including from the Arab American Institute’s James Zogby, a former executive member of the Democratic National Committee; Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, a pediatric intensive care surgeon who recently worked in Gaza; and Layla Elabed, co-chair of the Uncommitted National Movement. ___ We are all on a collective journey towards Decolonization, De-Globalization, and the dissolvement of all forms of capitalized state wealth consolidation { individual and collective corruption }. Thus the necessity of shifting towards #BRICS Multipolarity and Multilateralism, and actively shifting away from Collective Western Hegemony. ___ Apartheid Israel is occupying and colonising Palestinian land, discriminating against Palestinian citizens of Israel and denying Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes. Inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the BDS call urges action to pressure Apartheid Israel to comply with international law. BDS is now a vibrant global movement made up of unions, academic associations, churches and grassroots movements across the world. Since its launch in 2005, BDS is having a major impact and is effectively challenging international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism. Cortez has been sitting on the fence for so long. 5 Months later. I use to view her as one of the more principled US politicians but her failure to call it out earlier has definitely made people change their perspectives on her. We all know the strength of the Israeli lobby in the US government . In fact they own 85% of the politicians. Remember when Ilham Omar lost her seat Or Rashida Tlaib was censured. Children should be protected by international law.. Which children are you talking about? Your human rights, or women rights, Inclusivety, diversity, equal justice, freedom... For whom? There should be a disclosure that says, this only applies to white people. If you have not spoken up against this genocide, then you have lost all credibility to speak about human rights at all. 🔴STOP killing our children. 🔴Stop killing black and brown people for your colonial gains. 🔴HUMAN RIGHTS HAS A COLOUR. STOP⛔ STOP⛔ STOP⛔ Proud Sponsors of Genocide are : 🇺🇸➕🇮🇹➕🇩🇪➕🇬🇧➕🇫🇷➕ 🇳🇱 This is the most well documented Genocide in History! We are watching it in real time! It cannot be denied. The carnage continues, we do not need words, we need action. Israel needs to face consequences for breaking international law! And the countries that have been facilitating this Genocide are equally guilty. When we look back at history, we asked how could these atrocities happen. Why was it not prevented. Well it is happening now!!!! Palestinuans are being ethnically cleansed Stop Israeli Genocide against innocent Palestinian civilians ! #ICJGenocideConvention #ICJ_Breach #FreePalestine #stopbombingchildren #STOPISRAELIWARCRIMES #StopEthnicCleansingOfPalesti #Neveragainshouldbneveragainforeveryone #STOPtheGENOCIDE #STOPISRAELIAPARTHEID #STOPISRAELIHumanrightsabuses #STOPCENSORSHIP #airdropfoodtoGaza #STOPTHEMEDIACENSORSHIP #BREAKTHESILENCE #Flourmassacre #STOPTHEGENOCIDEINCONGO

The Role of Non-Governmental American Actors in the 1979 Iranian Revolution One of the salient points in analyzing the events surrounding the 1979 Iranian Revolution is the examination of the role played by American individuals who, while not officially representing the United States government, possessed backgrounds and records of entanglement with the U.S. government. A notable figure in this regard is Judge Ramsey Clark, who had demonstrated his antipathy towards the Shah of Iran in various ways since the time of the democrat President of the United States; John F. Kennedy. Enriched with such a background! during the presidency of Jimmy Carter, Clark felt compelled to oppose the Shah's regime again actively. One of Clark's primary endeavors in the fall and winter of 1979 involved communicating with the Shah's opponents and attempting to assist them through various means. For instance, Clark and his like-minded American fellows engaged in exaggerated propaganda regarding what they perceived as human rights violations in Iran. They amplified the portrayal of the situation in Iran to the American public, media, and international human rights organizations, presenting an exaggerated depiction of the circumstances. Moreover, according to the confession of one of the influential Iranian figures involved in the 1979 revolution!!, the activities of these individuals contributed to an exaggerated focus by human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International, on Iran. Consequently, their actions inadvertently aided the Shah's opponents in their efforts. #1979IranRevolution #JimmyCarter #CarterAdministration #1979IranRegimeChange #RamseyClark #JudgeClark

At the UN Human Rights Council 55th session, IJL called for determined action against the global antisemitic surge that followed the October 7 Hamas atrocities – in all its forms, including calls delegitimizing Israel’s existence. The horrendous attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, including the brutal torture and slaughter of entire families and over 250 individuals taken hostage, has instantly ignited a global surge in antisemitic hate speech and hate crimes. An "Epidemic of Hate." Jewish individuals and communities worldwide are facing threats and verbal and physical attacks. Delivering the statement, IJL’s CEO Hila Kugler Ramot, stressed that calls denying the legitimacy of Israel’s existence serve as a basis for the proliferation of the current outpouring of antisemitism and clearly constitute one of the manifestations of antisemitism. IJL also noted that the silence and ambiguous statements by some UN officials following the October 7 atrocities have fueled the global tsunami of antisemitism. As antisemitism spreads and intensifies, IJL called on all those who cherish human rights to act - to act determinedly against all forms of antisemitism – including the delegitimization of the Jewish state of Israel; to unequivocally condemn the continued atrocities committed by Hamas; and to bring about the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages still held in Gaza. JOIN US AT IJL in combating racism, antisemitism, and the delegitimization of Israel – https://lnkd.in/g3DxpUrr

Check out the article written by Ionatan Gottfried, intern at JIJ, examining the most recent resolution of the UN Human Rights Council concerning Israel. "Two weeks ago, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted the resolution A/HRC/55/L.30, marking the first official position of the top UN human rights body on the war that started on October 7 atrocities. With a historical background of struggles against Israel by the Council, what does this resolution in particular say and omit? What are the direct effects and impacts on the Jewish State?"
