NHS Innovation Accelerator’s Post

“Last year, we had 24,000 skin cancer referrals—and less than 4% of those patients had cancer,” says Lindsey Buttery, Senior Project Manager for Skin Pathway Improvements at the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance. To address this, the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Cancer Alliance redesigned their pathways for suspected skin cancer with Pathpoint eDerma to redirect patients who don’t need specialist care to GPs, community dermatology, or routine Trust pathways. They also introduced a virtual triage team, freeing up capacity for clinicians in Trusts to focus on seeing and treating patients who need specialist care. 🏥 💬 Read Lindsey’s interview, now live on ITN Business as part of their campaign for The Future of Dermatology: Spotlight on Skin, in partnership with the British Skin Foundation, and learn how Lancashire and South Cumbria transformed access to dermatology services and reduced variation across the region with a forward-thinking teledermatology care model.
