With 176 beds, this modern multidisciplinary hospital creates a healing environment where nature and technology work together to enhance recovery. Expansive windows in every patient room ensure exposure to natural light and provide views of the surrounding greenery, proven to aid faster recovery and reduce hospital stays.   The hospital’s layout prioritises both patient comfort and efficiency, with critical and specialised care units conveniently located on the ground floor for easy access to advanced facilities like the Hybrid Theatre, Electrophysiology Lab, Cath Lab and Endoscopy Unit. Recent expansions have added an enlarged neonatal unit and five new adult CCU beds, demonstrating the hospital’s ability to adapt to growing healthcare demands - all without increasing its physical footprint.   Sustainability lies at the heart of Mediclinic Midstream’s design. The hospital features a greywater reuse system that recycles water for non-potable purposes such as irrigation and cooling, significantly reducing the hospital’s environmental impact and operational costs. The current state of our CWM and other Hospital infrastructure highlights an urgent need for modernization. As the facilities age, maintenance becomes increasingly costly and inefficient. Instead of continuously investing in an outdated structure, we must focus on building a new, state-of-the-art hospital that meets the demands of contemporary healthcare. From a construction and engineering standpoint, a phased approach to constructing a new hospital is the most cost-effective and efficient solution. This method allows us to integrate advanced medical technologies and modern design principles from the start, ensuring a future-proof facility. Our proposal involves a strategic, phased construction plan, where each phase targets a specific section of the hospital. This approach ensures that the project is manageable and financially sustainable while minimizing disruptions to ongoing healthcare services. This initiative goes beyond political affiliations—it’s a call for collaborative efforts to improve our healthcare system. The current Fijian government has a unique opportunity to take a visionary step by initiating this construction project. Existing facilities can be repurposed for administrative or research purposes, ensuring that no part of our infrastructure is wasted. Building a new CWM Hospital will benefit our healthcare system and demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of our citizens. It will stand as a testament to our ability to innovate and adapt, providing future generations with access to world-class medical care. 🚀 Exciting new technology trials are underway at Nottingham's City Hospital, paving the way for a state-of-the-art £105m National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), set to open in 2025. The cutting-edge trials include equipment tracking, AI-powered CCTV, and voice-activated environmental controls. These innovations aim to enhance the rehabilitation experience for both patients and staff, improving efficiency and patient independence. Lisa Yates, Digital Strategy Lead at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, highlights the importance of trialling these technologies in real-life environments: "Until the technology has been implemented in a real, live, patient environment, we don’t fully know how they are going to work, and we need that feedback from patients and staff."
