What if You could help save countless lives. 90% of people in Gaza are being starved till death. A 2 month old baby died of malnutrition because there is no baby formula available. The mother couldn't feed her child because she has nothing to eat so she has no milk. A 60 year old man died of starvation. Children cry themselves to sleep out of hunger. Parents are heartbroken and helpless because they can't get anything for their children. People who are lucky to find something eat animal feed, grass, leaves and orange peels to stay alive. Ramadan is approaching and people are wondering how they make it to the next day already. Want to impact lives? Be a beacon of light for the Palestinian families who are risking their lives to find anything to eat. 16 countries stopped funding UNRWA without valid reason. That's around 450M USD out from humanitarian aid to Palestine. Let's show Palestinians and UNRWA that humanity prevails and we care. If you can support, share and donate you will make a tangible difference to over a million people in Gaza. Are you with me? #fundraising #unrwa #charityfundraising https://lnkd.in/dhr-Y8nF

Thousands of Syrian refugees who once sought safety in Lebanon are now being forcibly displaced back to Syria due to the escalating conflict. More than a quarter of a million people are estimated to have crossed into Syria to escape the growing dangers in Lebanon, including both Lebanese and Syrian families. Some have reported being forced to pay large sums of money to reach their destinations, with no money left over for basic necessities. Needs in Syria are now at their highest since the conflict began 14 years ago - a situation likely to deteriorate with the arrival of more displaced people. Meanwhile, only a quarter of the funding required to meet the existing needs in Syria has been secured. The IRC has been working in Syria since 2012, providing lifesaving health care and protection services. WHAT CAN ORDINARY PEOPLE DO FOR THE PEOPLE OF GAZA? Following my preceding post on the question; what can we do? 1) Which organization should people donate to for the most effective food assistance? This answer is fundamentally simple to answer. The organizations which is by far the most important to prevent exacerbation of the current famine is UNRWA. Not only is UNRWA by itself the most important because of their presence and size of 30.000 employees, it also is crucial in getting the help of other aid organizations into Gaza. In addition, the institution was forced to downsize in the midst of this crisis because the US, UK, GER, and The Netherlands succumbed to Israel's campaign to discredit and smear the organisation, something which has been going on for decades. The arguments have been proven illegitimate and unjust by several reputable organizations.(see below) Can we make up for the lack of political courage of our respective governments? So for those who want to help prevent large-scale death by famine in Gaza, here is what you should do: A) Donate to UNRWA Link: https://lnkd.in/eezRtghA B) Contact friends and family to do the same C) Go around in your neighborhood in a door-to-door campaign to ask for donations for the civilians of Gaza. *For people who are reticent in donating to UNRWA because of recent allegations by the Israeli government, the following. The general Israeli campaign and arguments for defunding UNRWA have been deemed unjust by several reputable organizations, such as The Economist and Amnesty International. In addition, the European Commission chose to give a green light to funding UNRWA last week (March 1st 2024) which is a signal of inherent trust on part of European authorities. Moreover the government of Canada has signalled that it will possibly start funding UNRWA again in the near future. (Articles presented in comments below) For the following questions: please keep informing me about how we can help. I will try to answer these ASAP. 2) Can commercial corporations help? 3)How could civilians put more effective political pressure? 4) In which ways is legal help warranted and effective? 5) What organizations have the knowledge and experience to provide an effective strategy? Don’t go Dutch; even a little will possibly help save a young life in Gaza.

⚠ Famine declaration in Sudan: A call for urgent action ⚠ On 1st August 2024, the Famine Review Committee (FRC) determined famine conditions in North Darfur’s Zamzam camp, which hosts more than 500,000 internally displaced people. This declaration is alarmingly rate, being only the third in the monitoring system’s 20-year history, and the first in over seven years. It means that extreme suffering is widespread and that people – many of them children – are dying every single day. The forced displacement of over 10 million people since the war began last year, coupled with appalling human rights atrocities and the lack of basic services, has created the world most pressing humanitarian catastrophe. This crisis grows deeper and threatens to engulf the entire region. The need for urgent action cannot be overstated. The persistent underfunding of this emergency is only exacerbating the crisis. Now is the time to act decisively and with compassion. If you wish to take action, reach out today. #Sudan #WithRefugees

In our efforts to center humanity, we've encountered those who use "what about" arguments to deflect from the crises in places like Gaza, attempting to pit sufferings against each other as if our empathy has a limit. They couldn't be more wrong. True empathy expands; it doesn't contract. Our commitment to humanity isn't selective. It grows stronger with every injustice we learn about, fueling our determination to fight for justice everywhere—be it in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, or Bangladesh. It is the same people advocating for Palestinian liberation who are also advocation for liberation everywhere. In fact, it is through our advocacy for Palestine that Pedro Santana and I have deepened our connection and understanding of the plight of the Rohingya refugees and have kickstarted our efforts to support those who currently reside in the world's largest refugee camp. To those who try to use "what aboutism" as tools for silencing and distraction: compassion isn't a zero-sum game. Our campaign to support the Rohingya refugees is proof of that. We're just $20 away from our $500 matching goal. We are looking to raise at least another $1K in the next 24 hours to help provide Iftar meals to the orphans, the elderly, and the most vulnerable. And there is so much more in the works! Because it's time we all move beyond rhetoric to meaningful action. #HumanityFirst #RohingyaRefugees #JusticeForAll https://lnkd.in/eHyUugWa

EMERGENCY APPEAL Amid the worsening humanitarian crisis, Union Aid Abroad APHEDA's partner organisation, the MA’AN Development Center, is delivering emergency relief to the Gaza Strip. However, time is running out. MA’AN is part of the water sanitation, shelter and protection networks of non-government organisations in Gaza. With your support, MA'AN works with UN and local organisations to provide: • Access to water, food, medical supplies and shelter • Psychosocial support for children and families • Dignity and hygiene kits for displaced people Your contribution can make a big difference in alleviating suffering not only in the immediate emergency but also in the early reconstruction phase. For example, in the rapid resumption of farming for food security. https://lnkd.in/gzmFR5uZ

Poverty is a widespread issue in Africa: 429 MILLION people in #Africa are living below the $2.15 U.S. dollar per day poverty line in 2024. That's roughly one-third of the continent's population. Since 1984, the Islamic Relief global family has been dedicated to Africa, providing emergency relief and long-term programming to families in need. Since then, we have established a presence in 16 African countries, with field staff on the ground to address needs quickly, efficiently, and effectively. By donating to our Africa Humanitarian Aid fund, you can make a huge impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters across Africa who need our support. 👉 irusa.org/Africa

Families in Palestine need your help. Please consider donating to help Yomna Al shanty and her husband provide Gazans with life-saving resources everyone around the globe deserves: water, food, and medicine. The ongoing war on Gaza has resulted in a potential death toll of 186,000 Palestinians according to a recent report from medical journal Lancet - that's 8% of the population of Gaza. As humanitarian aid dwindles amid continued destruction of Gaza's infrastructure (there are no hospitals left in Gaza), with no sign of an imminent ceasefire, this number will only continue to rise unless we help. None of us choose where we are born or the family that we're brought up in. It's time to look past our differences and fight for a world where every person can not just survive but live a long, happy, fulfilling life. Choose compassion, forgiveness, and understanding over cruelty and retribution. I hope you will join me in solidarity with Palestinians and also use your voice to reject the US-backed genocide Israel is committing in Gaza. https://lnkd.in/gCADTXZj https://lnkd.in/gNY5gDuZ #Gaza #Palestine #Humanitarian #GoFundMe #HumanitarianAid #Solidarity #Donate
