Why do we feel that knot in our stomach when someone asks us to donate? Is it truly altruism, or is there something deeper at play? Guilt is a natural motivator. It makes us act because, as social beings, we’re wired to feel responsible for one another. When we see a cause that we resonate with, guilt can push us to give, and that’s why so many non-profits use emotional appeals- because they work! But while guilt-driven donations are valuable, they often lead to short-term or one-off giving, a quick fix to relieve that feeling. What if there’s something else you could offer? Something that is not monetary? Something that creates a more lasting impact? This is where skill-based volunteering comes in. In India, many non-profits struggle with limited resources, not just financially but also in terms of expertise and skills to further build their capacity. A marketing expert could help an NGO tell its story better, or a tech professional could help them make their operations more efficient. It is your expertise and skills that can help an organization scale its impact. And it’s not just about what you give (though that’s a huge part of it), it’s about what you gain too. By volunteering your skills, you not only make a tangible difference but also grow personally, build connections, and experience the obvious fulfillment and satisfaction that comes with it (not just our words, our community of skilled volunteers agrees!!) At WeDoGood, we connect skilled volunteers with non-profits that truly need their expertise. We believe that giving comes in various forms. So if you’re interested in knowing how you can help our partner social orgs amplify their impact, simply let us know your interest through the form link in the comments! #Impact #SkilledVolunteering #ProBono #Consulting #Volunteer

Reading about the Pay-What-It-Takes (PWIT) India initiative is truly enlightening. This multi-year investment, organizational development (OD) and core costs as a strategy for partnering with nonprofits is impressive. PWIT's efforts to influence the mindsets and practices of funders, NGOs, and intermediaries is a game-changer.
