4 days to go until the big day! 🎉 I recently completed my research work at the Helix Biogen Institute, and it was a truly great experience. As a newcomer to the field of bioinformatics, I had some preconceived notions about what a laboratory environment would be like. I expected to see many people in lab coats, carrying out various scientific experiments. However, to my surprise, the lab was filled with desktops instead! 🤔 I guess I had a limited understanding of the field of bioinformatics. My project focused on ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), which wasn't my first time working with this technique, but it was a more detailed and enriching experience. I was also privileged to observe the process of DNA extraction, which was quite a lengthy procedure. Fortunately, my prior knowledge of DNA extraction helped me better understand the entire process. I specially appreciate Helix Biogen Institute for granting us the opportunity to make our project work a huge success and for the expanding our knowledge on this field of science. The determination and focus of both the staff and interns in the laboratory was very captivating and motivated to do better. I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected as a Summer Fellow in the Undergraduate Research Program! 🎉 I will be joining Jeffrey Mugridge and his graduate students in their lab, where I will be working on an exciting project focused on expressing and purifying human AlkBH4 from bacterial cells for biochemical and structural experiments. 🔍 Project Overview: The overall goal of the project is to express and purify human AlkBH4 from bacterial cells for biochemical and structural experiments. Here's what I'll be working on: - Obtaining the DNA sequence of human AlkBH4 - Cloning the AlkBH4 DNA sequence into different expression vectors with different solubility tags - Testing the expression of each construct in E. coli bacterial cells - Selecting the best construct(s) for purification, using Ni affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and size exclusion chromatography - Analyzing the purity of the protein at each step using SDS-PAGE (gel electrophoresis) I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and can't wait to dive into this research project! 🧪🔬 #UndergraduateResearch #SummerFellow #Biochemistry #StructuralBiology #LabWork #ExcitingOpportunity #AlkBH4

I am thrilled to share that I have recently completed a comprehensive three-week summer training program at Rapture Biotech International Pvt Ltd . I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr Rinkal Patel . for their invaluable support and mentorship during this enriching scientific journey. The program encompassed various modules, including: - Bioinformatics and Computational Biology: Dive into sequence analysis, protein structure prediction, molecular docking with ArgusLab ,Autodock, NGS QC toolkit, and BLAST etc - Herbal Drug Formulation and Bio Cosmetics: Hands-on experience in plant extract preparation, phytochemical analysis, antimicrobial testing, and product formulation. - Proteomics Techniques: In-depth training on protein extraction, precipitation, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting for precise protein identification. Each module has significantly contributed to my knowledge and skill set in the field of biotechnology.
