Biochemistry Undergraduate Researcher with the Mugridge Lab at University of Delaware

I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected as a Summer Fellow in the Undergraduate Research Program! 🎉 I will be joining Jeffrey Mugridge and his graduate students in their lab, where I will be working on an exciting project focused on expressing and purifying human AlkBH4 from bacterial cells for biochemical and structural experiments. 🔍 Project Overview: The overall goal of the project is to express and purify human AlkBH4 from bacterial cells for biochemical and structural experiments. Here's what I'll be working on: - Obtaining the DNA sequence of human AlkBH4 - Cloning the AlkBH4 DNA sequence into different expression vectors with different solubility tags - Testing the expression of each construct in E. coli bacterial cells - Selecting the best construct(s) for purification, using Ni affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and size exclusion chromatography - Analyzing the purity of the protein at each step using SDS-PAGE (gel electrophoresis) I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and can't wait to dive into this research project! 🧪🔬 #UndergraduateResearch #SummerFellow #Biochemistry #StructuralBiology #LabWork #ExcitingOpportunity #AlkBH4
