The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (#MoEFCC) recently issued an update to the #E-Waste (Management) Rules, known as the #SecondAmendment Rules, 2024. Effective from November 12, 2024, this amendment specifically addresses penalties for not following e-waste regulations. In the revised rule, if anyone fails to comply with e-waste management rules, they’ll face penalties under Section 15 of the #EnvironmentProtection Act, 1986. This section allows for legal actions such as fines or #imprisonment for #violations. The amendment aims to improve accountability and ensure that individuals and #organizations properly manage electronic waste. By enforcing stricter penalties, it encourages adherence to the Central Pollution Control Board (#CPCB) guidelines and helps tackle the growing issue of electronic waste in #India. #ESG #ESGExcelerate #sustainability #Wastemanagement DLS & Associates LLP Sumit Dhadda Harsha Ramnani

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has introduced two (02) new regulations aimed at tackling pollution from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and easing the financial burden of cleanup costs on businesses. The first regulation adjusts the definition of hazardous waste, ensuring that both the EPA and authorized states have the authority to require cleanup of all substances covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), including emerging pollutants like PFAS. The second regulation includes certain PFAS chemicals in RCRA standards, prompting their consideration in facility assessments and subsequent investigation and cleanup efforts through the corrective action process. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is a federal law regulating hazardous waste management. The law was passed in 1976 and is enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). RCRA sets standards for the generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste to protect human health and the environment. Compliance with RCRA regulations is mandatory for facilities that generate, transport, treat, store, or dispose of hazardous waste. #HazardousWaste

It's not just water companies at risk of large fines! Every business claiming the ISO14001 should be able to evidence that they maintain their assets, have risk management plans and reduce the risk of polluting. Dyno-Rod can help support the cleaning and surveying assets in support of risk reduction plans, speak to your account manager or local technical manager for more information. #donttaketherisk #riskreduction #Dynorod
£500,000. That is the amount Wessex Water has been fined for negligent sewage leaks that collectively killed thousands of fish in two different locations including additional discharges it failed to report. This prosecution is the result of a thorough investigation conducted by the Environment Agency. Pollution incidents like this are unacceptable and we will continue to hold water companies, like Wessex Water, to account for breaching environmental rules. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eh59Rg8U
