Assalamualaikum and Ramadan Kareem, As we embark on the blessed month of Ramadan, I extend heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, and blessings to you and your loved ones. Ramadan for me is a month of reflection and awareness. As I focus less on fuelling my body, it is my mind that I turn to for deep reflection, awareness, and insights. Often, it is in these moments that my mind is at its sharpest, enabling me to obtain the clarity needed to make important decisions. From my travels and studies abroad, I’ve had the experience of celebrating Ramadan in other lands, yet, it is Malaysia that warms the heart during this holy month. Being an inclusive, multicultural country, Malaysia naturally gets everyone excited and involved in the Ramadan festivities, regardless of race and religion. Some of the Ramadan experiences that only happen once a year during Ramadan are: - iftar buffets at hotels serving local and international spreads - open-air iftar picnics by the lakeside or at popular mosques - Ramadan bazaars and Eid bazaars for a spot of shopping - spiritual talks and retreats by local and international religious scholars organised by mosque and religious centres - taraweeh prayers throughout the country led by renowned imams - social-responsibility activities such as iftar food preparation for marginalised communities While these Ramadan experiences may seem normal to us Malaysians, it’s really something unique that some Muslims may not be able to experience in their own country. Meanwhile, for non-Muslims, these activities provide some exposure and understanding about the Muslim faith. So, let’s seize the opportunities presented by Malaysia's unique Ramadan celebrations. Together, we can create unforgettable experiences that resonate with the spirit of this holy month, and do our part to ensure the continuity of tourism businesses during Ramadan!

Ramadan Mubarak to those who are celebrating! As a non-Muslim, I found the two articles below helpful for learning more about the fasting, festivities, observations, and reflection associated with Ramadan and about how to support friends and colleagues who are honoring this holy month. Some of the ways we can be supportive are: - Showing genuinely curiosity, - Being mindful of the cultural and religious significance of this month, - Offering flexibility in terms of starting / ending the workday, meeting times, and remote options. Ramadan is ending, what’s next? 🌙✨ Your Muslim clients, colleagues, and employees will be celebrating the Muslim holiday called Eid! What is Eid? Eid (al-Fitr) is one of the two major Muslim holiday celebrations, where Muslims gather with friends, family, and community members. Eid al-Fitr (Arabic) translates to “festival of breaking the fast,” which is exactly as it sounds—it commemorates the end of the holy month of Ramadan. When is Eid? We are not sure, but we know it will be the day after the last day of Ramadan. This year, it will either fall on Tuesday, April 9th, or Wednesday, April 10th—depending on the moon sighting which will indicate if Ramadan is 29 or 30 days this year. For this reason, some might celebrate one day and others the second day. When will we know? As mentioned, we are all anticipating the announcement of the arrival of Eid depending on the moon sighting. Request? Your Muslim clients, colleagues, and employees will likely observe this holiday and request time off. Consider flexibility and understanding when they submit their time-off request as we are waiting to find out as well if it will be Tuesday, 4/9, or Wednesday, 4/10. Celebrate? You are welcome to join in celebrating even if you did not fast for Ramadan. Eid greeting? You can say “Eid Mubarak” meaning “Blessed Eid” or simply “Happy Eid.” Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating! #DiversityandInclusion #Ramadan #CulturalAwareness #Eid

As billions of Muslims globally will embark on the sacred month of Ramadan soon, I wanted to share 10 friendly reminders to both myself and you, especially in the professional environment: 1) Try to be considerate towards colleagues who are fasting by avoiding early morning or late afternoon meetings. An email or call could be a more thoughtful approach. 2) If possible, offer flexible working hours to support altered prayer and meal times, and encourage taking breaks even if they're not for lunch. 3) When greeting Muslim colleagues, a verbal greeting is always safe and respectful, especially as physical contact with the opposite gender may not be customary. 4) A simple 'Ramadan Kareem' or 'Ramadan Mubarak' can go a long way in making someone feel acknowledged. And if you're thinking of a small gift, dates are a thoughtful choice for breaking the fast. 5) For any outdoor field missions, try to minimize the time in the sun to avoid additional fatigue for those fasting. 6) Interested in showing solidarity? Consider fasting for a day or join a colleague for Iftar, the meal to break the fast, to experience this important aspect of Ramadan. 7) Curiosity about Ramadan and fasting is welcome; engaging in open conversations can enrich workplace diversity and inclusion. Beyond the office: 8) Encouraging or respecting someone's commitment to prayer, fasting, or charitable acts during this time can be a meaningful gesture of support. 9) Use this time to uplift others, possibly even with a quiet prayer for their well-being. 10) Remember, Ramadan is more than abstaining from food; it's a period of self-improvement, growth, and emerging as a better version of oneself. Let's embrace this month with understanding, respect, and support for our Muslim colleagues and friends. Happy Ramadan to those observing! 🌙✨ #Ramadan #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #share Note: This year, Ramadan is expected to begin in the evening on Sunday, March 10, 2024 and end on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. The Islamic Calendar follows a lunar cycle, and while these are the calculated expected dates of Ramadan, they can differ from place to place based on moon sightings or lack thereof.

As someone who hails from India and now proudly calls the UAE my home, I've been deeply moved by the rich culture here. The parallels between Indian and Emirati cultures have been a constant source of fascination for me, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan. Ramadan, to me, represents a unique chance for spiritual renewal and self-improvement. It's a period for recalibration, for deep self-reflection, and for cultivating gratitude. It teaches us the beauty of being humble servants to humanity. Moreover, it's an ideal time for goal setting, refining our purpose, and rejuvenating our spirits to embark on our journeys with renewed energy and determination. I've observed that Ramadan is a period when many draw closer to a higher power through self-introspection, disciplined living, and both mental and physical fasting. This annual opportunity allows for a profound connection not just with oneself but with the community at large. Sharing experiences and lessons with those who observe Ramadan has enriched my understanding and respect for this holy month. It's a time that emphasises the importance of discipline, reflection, and the pursuit of a meaningful, purpose-driven Life. As we enter this blessed month, I wish everyone a peaceful and reflective Ramadan. May this time bring you closer to your spiritual goals and strengthen the bonds of community and shared humanity. #culture #gratitude #happiness #LinkedInCreators #RamadanGrowth #LinkedInNewsMiddleEast #UAE

As Ramadan approaches, I wanted to take a moment to share some insights about this holy month. Whether you have Muslim colleagues, clients, or friends, understanding Ramadan can foster stronger connections. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. While this includes abstaining from food and drink, it's much more than just physical restraint. It's a time for deep reflection, focusing on our relationship with God and striving to be better people. Throughout the month, Muslims dedicate themselves to self-development. We actively cultivate kindness, patience, and empathy. You might notice some Muslim colleagues are absent from regular lunch, coffee runs, or smoke breaks. Don't worry, it's not because they are avoiding you. They simply can't eat, drink or smoke during the day. Please feel free to carry on as usual - there's no need to feel awkward. I encourage you to reach out to your colleagues and clients to initiate a conversation about Ramadan. Our connections strengthen when we engage in discussions about matters important to us, fostering stronger bonds across religions and cultures. With stronger bonds, we build bridges instead of walls, an aspect the world could definitely benefit from at the moment. Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Ramadan.

With approximately 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, nearly a quarter of the world's population observes Ramadan. During this holy month, Muslims of all ages and backgrounds come together to fast from dawn to sunset, engage in increased prayers, read the Quran, perform acts of charity, and reflect on their spirituality. The practices and customs of Ramadan may vary across different cultures and regions, but the core essence of devotion, self-discipline, and community spirit remains universal among Muslims worldwide. Educate everyone about the significance of Ramadan. ➡ Thoughtful Events: If hosting any events, be mindful of fasting hours and dietary preferences. ➡ Encourage Rest:Acknowledge the physical demands of fasting. Encourage breaks and rest as needed. For Your Customers: ➡ Extended Hours: If feasible, extend your business hours to accommodate customers’ needs during Ramadan. ➡ Respectful Interactions: Use respectful greetings such as “Ramadan Mubarak” or “Ramadan Kareem” when interacting with customers. ➡ Timely Deliveries: For deliveries, ensure prompt and respectful service, especially during Iftar time. Avoid Asking About Fasting: Be mindful not to inquire about the difficulty of fasting, as it can be personal and sensitive. Let’s come together as a community of small businesses to embrace unity and inclusivity this Ramadan season!

I wish all my friends, colleagues, business partners and connections a very blessed month of Ramadan, I echoed the nice following message from my friend Mohamed El Daly. Today marks the beginning of the sacred month of #Ramadan, observed during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Muslims worldwide fast for 30 days from dawn until sunset, abstaining from eating and drinking. This period is dedicated to spiritual enrichment and reflection, with added prayers and introspection aimed at purifying the mind, body, and soul and fostering a deeper connection with God. To support your Muslim colleagues and employees during this time, consider the following actions: 1. Extend warm wishes by saying “Ramadan Mubarak” or “Ramadan Kareem,” conveying your hopes for their blessed month. This small gesture can make a significant impact. 2. Practice respectfulness. There's no need to apologize for eating or drinking in their presence, as those fasting anticipate your usual routines. 3. Avoid assumptions. Not every Muslim fasts during Ramadan due to health issues or specific religious exemptions. Rather than inquiring why someone isn't fasting, offer your support. 4. Propose flexible working schedules and breaks. Since energy levels might vary, accommodating adjustments in work hours or break times can be greatly appreciated. 5. Foster awareness and education among your team about the importance of Ramadan. This effort aids in building an inclusive and respectful workplace culture. 6. Facilitate time off post-Ramadan for the celebration of ‘Eid’. 7. Ask your Muslim colleagues if you're curious about Ramadan and its practices. And if you're wondering, “Not even water?” the answer is, indeed, not even water. 🙂 I wish you and your loved ones a joyous, healthy, and prosperous Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem! This nice photo is from our house decorations.

The sacred tradition of Ramadan is a time of reflection, spiritual renewal, and communal solidarity. It's very enjoyable to see my friends honor and respect this time of year as not only a religious observance but a cultural experience also. The parallel between adherence in respecting tradition and broader aspects of life is just so striking. Just as my friends fast from dawn to sunset and engage in increased acts of kindness and prayer, there's a very stong commitment to values and principles. It's not confined to religious observances alone; it applies to all facets of life. The foundation of Ramadan is with discipline, empathy, and a sense of shared responsibility. It's the same concept of adherence in life— ethical values, respecting diversity, and contributing positively to the community. Even medication adherence in a way. the company called adherence.
