DYK that in 2016 Canada had about 400 roundabouts and now has over 1250? In October of this year, CIMA+ added another one to the tally. Construction at Highway 37 & 44 junction, near Edmonton, AB, was completed and another roundabout opened to the public providing that intersection with better traffic flow and enhanced safety. The previous four-way stop-controlled intersection was upgraded to a single-lane roundabout with right-turn bypass lanes, splitter islands, and raised medians to reduce speeds and enhance traffic flow. During design and construction, CIMA+ prioritized: 1. Sustainable development 2. Minimizing construction footprint 3. Protecting nearby wetlands 4. Low maintenance Learn more about our cutting-edge and multidisciplinary expertise with roundabouts and all types of roadway projects at: https://lnkd.in/gK4Q7ucw https://lnkd.in/gj3q2rrZ #CIMA+ #EngineeringForPeople #Roundabouts #Transportation #RoadSafety

Thomson’s Farm Ruined Steading to twenty beautiful homes It’s amazing just what you find when restoring old buildings - These buildings are part of our heritage, part of our past I don’t understand why our Council’s charges for affordable and otherwise make it so difficult to save and re-purpose for modern requirements. Why Planning takes so long, particularly given the housing emergency when if they just spoke to those involved in the industry we could come up with solutions Royce Clark Kate Forbes MSP #propertydevelopment #propertyinvestment

Last week, John D. Plante, Anthony W. Ravosa, Jr., and I paid a visit to Secretary of Housing & Livable Communities, Ed Augustus, and his Senior Advisor, Gina McLaughlin - our fellow building mates at 100C. We shared experiences and ideas on how Commonwealth agencies can do their part to accelerate the housing production policy goals of the Healey-Driscoll Administration and streamline permitting on their own accord - an overlooked role in the process amid all the attention being paid to MBTA Communities zoning reform at the local level. We also discussed creative ways to leverage the development of housing on state-owned properties through low-interest federal financing for transit-oriented development. As many of you know, I'll be happy to talk your ears off - any time, anywhere - about the tremendous TOD opportunities being unlocked by the U.S. Department of Transportation's TIFIA and RRIF programs. The housing crisis is having its moment. Let's not let it go to waste. #langan #livablecommunities #housingcrisis #usdot #tifia #rrif

🚨 Important Update! 🚨 Earlier this week, the Charlotte City Council approved the Compact Development provision, a key step towards addressing the need for entry-level and workforce housing. This amendment allows for higher density developments in certain areas of the city. Over the summer, they'll discuss strategies to increase townhome developments, with another text amendment expected this fall. Stay informed about the City's Alignment Rezoning process! Webinars are being held all week long. Register and participate: https://lnkd.in/enwideV3 🔥 Our take: The Compact Development option is a positive first step, addressing gaps left by the amended Conservation Development provision. The high volume of development applications under specific provisions signals a need to reassess the Unified Development Ordinance. As summer discussions continue, let's also tackle other pressing issues like trees and stormwater. #cltcc #Housing #Development #Charlotte #rebic #joinrebic #charlottenc

Will the government’s requirement for 50% affordable housing on grey belt sites be deliverable? This week, we heard from Calderdale Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, and Greater Cambridge Shared Planning as part of our inquiry into the grey belt. Representatives Richard Seaman, Stephen Kelly and Mark Andrews shared their opinions on the impact of the new grey belt definition. We heard: 🟥 the new definition lacks clarity, which could present challenges in implementation 🟥 50% affordable housing may not be sustained by land values, and targets set by local plans may be preferable 🟥 the government’s proposals may lead to opportunism from landowners and the housebuilding industry, who might prefer to progress small sites on the edges of villages with lower infrastructure lead times and costs 🟥 the current green belt releasing approach maintains public confidence through a structured process of consultation, refinement, examination and the report from the inspector. 📺 Watch the session on Parliament TV https://lnkd.in/e52gPruR 📄 Find out more about the inquiry https://lnkd.in/ePuJ8s5Y #HouseOfLords #Housing #GreyBelt #AffordableHousing
