Sensational. The high cost and slow delivery of ships could then be challenged. Picking up freight from remote places with no airport and then delivering to distant countries in a couple of days instead of up to 28 days by sea would attract plenty of business. Not only that it would be better for the planet and our oceans. There are several other airship projects at various stages across the World. The UK ,US France and Canada .see 5 projects here https://lnkd.in/gfpeTj46

We're really liking the recent uptick in articles from Simple Flying on LTA aircraft! Pleased to see another piece from Aaron Spray, this time on the promising but ultimately unsuccessful Cargo Lifter CL 160 airship. It's important to keep in mind the mistakes made in the past as we push for modern airship and aerostat development. What lessons should we learn from Cargo Lifter? --------------- Join the Airship Association for as little as £10/US$12 per year, and get exclusive access to our networking events, quarterly publication, and digest emails: https://lnkd.in/ePa5WtQX #AirshipAssociation #LTANews #airships #blimps #zeppelins #aerostats #HAPS #LTA #LighterThanAir #helium #aviation #sustainability #sustainableaviation #sustainabletravel #goodyearblimp #futurism #solarpunk #NetZero

This year witnessed a significant surge in Ro-Ro vessel orders, reflecting the escalating demand for ro-ro shipping services. A remarkable 68 new ro-ro ships were constructed in 2023, a stark rise compared to the mere five vessels built in preceding years. This uptrend in vessel production underscores the industry's response to the mounting requirement for efficient vehicle transportation, notably emanating from China. The nation's robust export figures reveal a substantial 5.2 million vehicles shipped out in 2023, further emphasizing the necessity for expanded maritime capabilities in the ro-ro sector.

Despite mounting environmental concerns and political pressure around the use of private jets, the private aviation sector continues to experience strong growth, particularly in the Middle East and Asia. With increasing numbers of aircraft joining the fleet and growth in the sector predicted to continue, considerations around ownership structures and registration options have never been more important. In this article Partners Barnabas Finnigan, Robert Lindley and Julie McLean and Senior Associate Davina Hargun explore some of the key issues that owners need to consider when purchasing and registering a private aircraft, and some of the benefits that offshore structuring can offer. “The first fully electric tug to operate in a European port has been delivered to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, paving the way to zero emission operations. The port is pursuing a number of sustainable initiatives towards its goal to become carbon neutral by 2050, fleet renewal being one of them. As well as the fully electric RSD-E Tug 2513, Damen Shipyards Group six vessel delivery to the port included five RSD Tugs 2513 all with onboard Damen Marine NOX Reduction Systems that remove harmful emissions from exhaust gases, ensuring IMO Tier III compliance.” #naval #navalarchitecture #shipbuilding #decarbonization

A working railway station wouldn’t be closed without any stakeholder consultation! The consultation on the GNSP is still open until the 16th of December. Please make sure to respond and let the planning authorities know that general aviation airfields are an asset to the country. Airfields are as much a part of our essential infrastructure as railway stations and motorways- neither of which would ever be earmarked for demolition whilst they were still in use… and certainly not without any consultation with the industry and stakeholders that depend on them! Airfields are not “fair game”, they are valuable National assets that should be protected and preserved to maintain current operations and safeguard future opportunities. I’ll put the link to the consultation below- please make your voices heard, and share widely to make sure that as many folks as possible can too. Thank you. Homes can be built in many places, airfields can not! #savenottinghamcityairfield #generalaviation #futureaviation #aerodromes #eVTOL #pilots #AAM

Here's what's trending this Tuesday, December 17, 2024: The convergence of technical breakthroughs opens up exciting possibilities for advancing maritime transportation technologies. By integrating innovations, the competitiveness of vessels designed for inland waterways and hull-lifting capabilities is enhanced. This approach paves the way for the development of future large-scale hydrofoil vessels, mega-scale seaplanes, and wing-in-ground effect planes, showcasing the potential of collaborative innovation in shaping the next generation of maritime transport. Read about it here: https://bit.ly/41DXplY The European Council prolongs the mandate of the EU Naval Force Operation ATALANTA and the EU's military training mission in Somalia (EUTM Somalia) because of the instability in the region and the renewed rise of piracy. https://bit.ly/4gGE6wB October 2024 marked a surge in maritime sanctions as regulatory bodies like OFAC and OFSI expanded their sanctions lists, with 33 and 20 vessels respectively, intensifying scrutiny on high-risk vessels engaged in potentially deceptive practices. The most significant growth noted among vessels is from Russia (33), Panama (30), Comoros (11), and Guyana (9).
