This innovative platform trial is testing multiple drugs that are already approved for other indications to see if they might also work in people with motor neuron disease. Givinostat (EPIDYS) is an ‘HDAC inhibitor’ in that it blocks enzymes called histone deacetylases (HDACs), which are involved in turning genes ‘on’ and ‘off’ within cells and can reduce muscle regeneration in Duchenne.
