The extension of Dauberman Road in Big Rock is now open. The newly extended road now runs from Keslinger Road to the north and connects to Granart Road to the south. This $26 million project extends Dauberman Road over Route 30 and the BNSF railroad lines, significantly enhancing the region's transportation network. Planning for the project began in 2008, and the construction phase took a year and a half to complete. This much-needed regional improvement is designed to enhance public safety, improve emergency response times, and increase accessibility for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The extension addresses long-standing transportation challenges in the southwestern part of Kane County. Key Benefits of the Dauberman Road Extension: Enhanced Emergency Response: The extension provides a grade-separated crossing over the BNSF railroad, eliminating delays caused by passing trains. First responders, including fire and paramedics, will now have quicker access to areas north of Route 30, such as Kaneland High School and surrounding communities. Improved Safety: The new road increases safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who previously had limited options for crossing the BNSF railroad. Increased Connectivity: The project links the Village of Big Rock to the Village of Sugar Grove, improving overall transportation efficiency and system linkage in the region. Interstate 26 is South Carolina’s Main Street. I-26 connects South Carolinians with work and educational opportunities, supports the state’s economic activity, and welcomes guests who travel to the Palmetto State for work or play. From the foothills of the Upstate to the marshes of the Lowcountry, bridges serve as vital links along I-26, connecting stretches of roadway and providing an uninterrupted drive. In fact, there are 145 total bridges on I-26, crossing over roads, railroads, and bodies of water. Pictured are two I-26 bridges over US 29 in Spartanburg County that see an average of 53,900 vehicles per day. With a growing state population and traffic projected to continue increasing, our work to Fix I-26 will continue to be a priority for SCDOT – bridges and all.

Absolutely right. A major reason for the 1920’s peak is the second National Infrastructure Bank which took the initiative to make PA the center of manufacturing. Now is the time for the US to work on HR 4052 for the creation of the fifth National Infrastructure Bank. Let’s get it done; check out nibcoalition.com. #nationalinfrastructurebank
At its peak in 1920, the railroad industry had more than 11,500 miles of track in the state of Pennsylvania. Today, around 5,900 miles of active track exists. The Schuylkill River corridor is fortunate to have a share of some of the best, well maintained trackage in the state—thanks to Norfolk Southern, CSX, Amtrak and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)—significantly helping the prospects of the return of passenger rail to the Reading, Pottstown and Phoenixville communities. #GoSRPRA #traintravel #PAproud #reading #pottstown #phoenixville #philadelphia #schuylkillriver #pennsylvania

Hitting the Road Less Traveled: Our US Interstate Highway Adventure ️ Rohan Oberoi and I recently embarked on an epic road trip from NY to SF - one of the things which blew our mind was the US Interstate Highway System. Digging deeper, here's what we learned: 1. From Military Mishap to Highway Masterplan: Did you know the whole idea sparked from a bumpy military expedition in 1919? It was a long and difficult trip, needing 62 days. One of the travelers was Dwight Eisenhower, then a 28-year-old brevet lieutenant colonel. Eisenhower was very impressed with the German Autobahn highway network during WW2 so much so that he wanted to create a US version when he became president - lo and behold, in June 1956, Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 to build the Interstate Highways 2. Gas Money Genius: Funding this mammoth project was a doozy! Eisenhower initially wanted toll roads, but that idea fizzled faster than a flat tire outside major cities. Public bonds were another option, but that went up in smoke too. The solution? The ingenious Highway Trust Fund! Every gallon of gas purchased kicks in a few cents, quietly fueling this grand infrastructure project. Clever, right? 3. Our experience: We traveled on the longest east-west interstate highway (I-90 which runs for 3k+ miles from Boston to Seattle) as well as the longest north-south interstate highway (I-95 which runs for ~2k+ miles from Maine to Miami). These highways are often the best and most maintained highways and saved us a few times (especially when we got caught in a snow storm) 4. Decoding the Mystery Numbers: Ever wondered what's behind those interstate numbers? There's a method to the madness! Generally, odd numbers take you north-south, increasing from west to east. Even numbers go east-west, getting bigger as you head north (with a few exceptions, of course). This brilliant system, along with consistent signage and road design, makes navigating a breeze. 5. Shaping a Nation on Wheels: The impact of the Interstate Highway System goes far beyond asphalt and rest stops. It's woven into the fabric of American culture, making cars a central part of our lives. Before, road trips were adventures requiring serious prep. Now, hitting the open road is easier than ever, even spawning the rise of suburbs as people could live farther from city centers. Like this if you learned something new! Let's chat in the comments about your favorite road trip experiences or hidden gems you've discovered along the interstates.
