🚧 Council has secured $481,000 for road safety improvements 🚧 In a major step towards reducing road accidents and saving lives, Council has received $481,000 in funding from Transport for NSW under the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program. This initiative aligns with the NSW Government's goal of zero road deaths and serious injuries by 2050. Tragically, someone is hospitalised or killed every 50 minutes on NSW roads. This funding will help deliver critical upgrades to high-risk areas like Macquarie Grove Road, Kirkham, with the aim of improving safety for all road users. By May 2025, Macquarie Grove Road Bridge will undergo improvements of: - Sealed shoulder (1-2.5 meters wide over 800 meters) - New curve warning signs - Guideposts with reflectors As part of the Towards Zero Roads Program, ongoing initiatives like Saving Lives on Country Roads and Safe and Liveable Urban Communities will continue to make a difference in road safety. ℹ️ A49 at Bayston Hill – an update from National Highways ℹ️ Following the incident in Bayston Hill on 11 November when a lorry hit two buildings, we have continued to liaise with the third party insurers and contractors who are managing the structural work on the damaged buildings. Engineers have now confirmed that stabilisation work to the pub will not provide the structural stability required and therefore a portion of the building needs to be demolished. We’re advised that this work is due to take place soon. We are awaiting an update on the necessary work to the second damaged property. Until this work is complete and we are given the assurance that the buildings no longer pose a risk to road users or pedestrians, the temporary traffic lights must remain on the A49. We appreciate the delays and frustration these lights are causing, but safety is our top priority. ⚠️ In addition, Shropshire Council is continuing to monitor the situation and liaise with National Highway to help mitigate any disruption being caused. ⚠️ Road users are advised to take alternative routes where possible. ▶️ For longer distance north / south journeys, we recommend taking the A5, M54, M6, M5 and M50. ▶️ For cross border journeys into/out of North Shropshire, it may be more suitable to use the A483, A458 or A488/A489. ▶️ For cross border journeys into/out of South Shropshire, it may be more suitable to use the A489.

The extension of Dauberman Road in Big Rock is now open. The newly extended road now runs from Keslinger Road to the north and connects to Granart Road to the south. This $26 million project extends Dauberman Road over Route 30 and the BNSF railroad lines, significantly enhancing the region's transportation network. Planning for the project began in 2008, and the construction phase took a year and a half to complete. This much-needed regional improvement is designed to enhance public safety, improve emergency response times, and increase accessibility for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The extension addresses long-standing transportation challenges in the southwestern part of Kane County. Key Benefits of the Dauberman Road Extension: Enhanced Emergency Response: The extension provides a grade-separated crossing over the BNSF railroad, eliminating delays caused by passing trains. First responders, including fire and paramedics, will now have quicker access to areas north of Route 30, such as Kaneland High School and surrounding communities. Improved Safety: The new road increases safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who previously had limited options for crossing the BNSF railroad. Increased Connectivity: The project links the Village of Big Rock to the Village of Sugar Grove, improving overall transportation efficiency and system linkage in the region. "The Cape Cod Commission is pleased to present the 2024 Cape Cod Interchange Intersection Crash Analysis Report summarizing the top crash locations of the intersections with interchange ramps and local intersections in Barnstable County. The Commission analyzed 32 intersections across 15 interchange systems on Routes 6 and 28, excluding Bourne (which is being studied as part of the MassDOT Canal Area Bridge Replacement Project). Using crash data from over 1,100 reports, CCC staff identified high-risk sites for the interchange ramp intersections based on crash totals, rates, and severity. The findings aim to prioritize Roadway Safety Audits (RSAs) and safety enhancements at the highest ranked locations in collaboration with the Towns and MassDOT. This report is now available on our Transportation Safety webpage and we hope you all can give it a quick read to learn more about this analysis and these additional top crash locations in our region." Happy to have worked on this report!

Safety upgrade works have commenced on the New England Highway, approximately 9 kilometres north of Armidale. This $9.6 million project is part of the Australian Government’s Road Safety Program, with both the Australian and New South Wales governments each committing $4.8 million. 🚧Key improvements include: ⭕ Extending southbound overtaking lanes by about 350 metres. ⭕ Widening the highway to provide two 3.5-metre-wide travel lanes and 1.5-metre-wide sealed shoulders. ⭕ Implementing wide centreline treatments to increase separation between oncoming vehicles, reducing the risk of head-on collisions. https://lnkd.in/gq-ewuVj #RoadSafety #NewEnglandHighway #Infrastructure #TransportNSW #CivilEngineering

Critical road safety improvements will be delivered at 13 sites across South Australia, thanks to an $8.9 million investment under the Australian Government's 2024-25 Black Spot program. The program funds safety measures such as traffic signals, roundabouts, safety barriers and shoulder sealing at locations where serious crashes have occurred or are at risk of occurring. So far this year, 37 lives have been lost on South Australian roads. 🛣️ Almost $5 million will go towards projects in regional areas, complementing projects already underway to improve safety on our regional roads. 🚴🏽 $4 million will be used for safety measures in the metropolitan area, funding improvements to intersections and traffic signalling. This includes the installation of a median island with pedestrian and cyclist storage areas on Kensington Road across the intersection with George/Giles Street, Norwood.
